Re: WOLF CONTENT

I am trying to keep an open mind here. What I am not understanding is that people involved with the foundation dogs don't know if their animals are wolfdogs? I am probably missing something. But whoever owned Jackal, Boogie, Whitefang et al. surely must know about the lineage of their dogs, no? I fe...

Formally Introducing Siena

Siena is our little girl from Freyja x Dylan. We love her to pieces. Everyone agrees that she looks a lot like her dad, and we couldn't be happier because he is such a handsome lad. Siena is a very mellow girl (so far) of 11 weeks. She loves the couch, pays attention to the TV, is always on the trai...

Re: Boarding Kennels

Hi everyone! I don't have any friends who can petsit - Siena needs to still have people around all day, and the best I could get is someone home from 6 pm on, to be gone at 7... Arian, I am in Southern CT, if this is near, I'd love the info. We will prob. find someone to care for the three doggies t...

Re: Boarding Kennels

Thank you everyone. I am going to explore both options. I don't personally know any people who do home boarding, but will call a few and visit with them and Siena. I will also check out a few kennels in the area, and visit and do sleepovers if they are good ones. My parents dogs are also going to bo...

Re: Couch Destruction

Wow! I hope Siena doesn't start destroying stuff, especial part of the house. We rent and can't imagine what we would tell our landlord if we come home to a missing door frame! When do your Tams engage in destruction of this kind? Is it ongoing, or was it a phase during puppyhood? How old was your T...

Boarding Kennels

Hello everyone! This June, my boyfriend and I are traveling to the Caribbean for a week for my brother's wedding. We have to find Siena a great Boarding Kennel as all family will be away too, but I've been very stressed that the week apart from us will be traumatic for her and cause her to develop s...

Re: You know you're doing a good job when....

HEY guys...we dont want them to look 'just like' wolves otherwise people will be saying we have wolf content in our Tamaskan which we dont! We have enough people saying that already  just jealous I say  Agreed. Also, now that I have my girl, and know the breed better, I'd even be inclined...

Early days temperament!

Hi everyone! We are enjoying our new Tam pup... We loves to pieces, she has bonded really well with my boyfriend Mark. She is a really mellow duck. Today is day three only, but the vet mentioned how calm she is - he said he would expect a lab puppy to sleep through the exam, not a sled dog! We're yo...

Re: Tamaskan Aggression?

I saw those online too! Thanks for posting. Sampo's family is a member of the forum? Such a good looking boy. I showed this to my family because they saw photos of Tamaskans and were horrified: "That's a wolf!!!!!! Can;t you get a Labrador?" :) They changed their minds after this video. It helps to ...

Tamaskan Aggression?

Hi! It;s me again, with more questions. We are getting close to making our decision. I would like to know what experience everyone has with biting and aggression, if any. We are going to have a little niece/nephew soon, so our dog should be able to put up with toddlers hugging, pulling on tail, ears...

Re: Tamaskan only dog in the house?

Thanks for all the replies! We are planning on crate training. So it seems form your answers that *if* there is separation anxiety, a good route of action would be the crate and positive reinforcement, then a cat, then if nothing else works another dog to make a "pack"? Anyone experience separation ...

Tamaskan only dog in the house?

Does any one have a Tamaskan as the only dog, or only pet? What is your experience like in terms of separation anxiety, destructiveness, etc? Out home has 2 adults only, and one of us works from home, so alone time wouldn't be that many, or for too long. Anyone has a Tamaskan and cat/s? Do they take...
