Re: Hawthorne Astrila "Ruuq"

She seems pretty structurally sound and she is adorable! I can understand why you chose her, overall the breeder should try to maintain the traits to pass on to the next generations. If that means choosing a puppy with a better body and temperament than coloring (although a darker mask and socks are...

Re: Hawthorne Astrila "Ruuq"

Congrats on the new addition! Hopefully she turns out healthy and beautiful like her parents. Freya is one of my personal favorite tams and I'm sad I'll never get one of her pups though. I'm also curious what made you decide on her in the end.

I might have to take a trip to the NJ show! It'd be so awesome if there were many tamaskan owners there so we can finally see one in person!

What type of fencing do you use?

Hey all! Well my fiancee and I will be moving in the beginning of January to our new house! :D It's got a pretty big yard (not sure how large but its about three times as big as the normal backyards in our area). We want to upgrade the fence that is surrounding the property before we get any of the ...

Balto13- Yes it's from There she goes! I've always loved the cartoon and even grew up with it over the years as they slowly released episodes (to this day I always listen to Cake Dance on my birthday). Of course the last "episode" always gets me to cry lol. Wait, so Noque and Teyah aren't related? W...

I wasn't aware they are actually related, thanks for the info lol. I did consult a few breeders but I thought it would be a good idea to get the other community members opinions on the manner, especially those who are in the US (both breeders and potential owners alike).

I know both moondance and basalt are hoping to use their dogs as outcrosses one day if they pass their health tests and such, but they would still be breeding with the dogs that currently exist in the US (unless they mate the two outcrosses together, which I dou t they would do lol). Which is why I ...

We want to become breeders one day. Help please! (long post)

Hello all :D It's a bit early to post this but my fiance and I would like to become the owners of a breeding dog for the US lines within the next year (hopefully). I know there are various lines in the US already but I'd like to get a unrelated dog so that the dams here could benefit new blood. Alth...

Re: Wolfy Appearance?

I think most of the people on here prefer N.A wolves to Europe ones, it's this huge majestic looking creature that shows both power and beauty with just a glance. Maybe a bit further down the line we can try to add breeds who add the physical characteristics of N.A wolves so that tams will have thos...

Re: Does getting a breeding quality puppy cost more than a p

Right now the best match I can figure out would be a pup with Bear (Alba's outcross boy) and either Leska or Cheyenne as a dam. Since that'll give the most diverse blood to the U.S lines as far as I can tell. Though I highly doubt they will go to other countries or use AI to get the girls pregnant :...

Thanks so much for the info guys! If I plan on getting a puppy with the next year (fingers crossed) then it's a good thing to learn as much as I can. How much money do you spend on feeding your tamaskan?

Hey there folks! I'm pretty much a newbie here though I try to do as much research as I can so when I do own a tamaskan of my own I can be well prepared (hopefully within the next two years we will get a puppy since my fiancee and I will be getting a home of our own within this year). Re: wolf grey and silver grey

The fact that people find it easier to talk about the two different colors means that it might be worthwhile to consider having silver grey be in its own catagory since its far easier to specify which color a person may be referring to. Wolf grey can have some red in it without being considered red ...

I tried looking up the offspring of Jodie and Rann but it says that none of the offspring had litters, unless I'm somehow not looking it up correctly lol. Re: wolf grey and silver grey

I do agree there should be two different colors since there are actual difference between the two. I personally like wolf grey moreso than silver grey and being able to talk to a breeder about the two when it comes to what should be listed on the breeding registration papers would be useful.

I love certain Tams here in the US such as the tarheel breeders (kana is such a beautiful dog IMO) and Sierra has a gorgeous Tam as well, but again I wasn't sure if it was just climate that changed the looks of the dogs (some other tams don't look as solid or as thick as some other dogs I've seen. Why do Tams from the US look different from ones in the UK?

I recently noticed that certain breeders in the US have dogs with different coats than Tams in the UK. I really like the looks of the tams from the UK because they look very wolfy and I love their coat density and colors. I was wondering why this happens. I don't know if its the change in climate or...

Re: New outcrosses?

I personally think the American Alsatian would be the best outcross out of the ones I've mentioned. They are used as therapy dogs quite often for their...

I agree that the tamaskans as a whole are a very new breed and we need to establish where we want the breed to go and getting it registered as a recognized breed of dog before thinking of changing what we've worked on so early. Besides I believe the swedish vallhund already looks like a "mini tamask...

Re: What is the purpose of the Tamaskan Dog?

I like the companion traits the tamaskan has over other "working dogs" just because I'd rather have a dog that loves cuddles over 10+ hours of exercise. I don't mind the hour or two of exercise tams need, but anything more than that and I wouldn't personally be able to handle the breed. Sure I want ...

Re: Coat Length

I'd personally like to see tams with a plushier coat, but I'm not sure if its genetics or climate that matters most. Re: Just a talk about small ears.....

I personally don't mind the size of the ears Tams have right now, but furring them would be good as well as working on the coat itself. I'm not sure if its due to climate differences but I notice many tams in the US are much sleeker in their coats compared to the ones in the UK.
