Re: To spay or not not spay? Need help!

Somehow I missed this original thread... I agree with the others that it is better to wait. Ideally, around 18-24 months old is a good age to sterilize as that's when the growth plates are closed and the dog is fully mature / properly developed. Since she is lacking confidence, which is relatively c...

Welcome to the forum! It's good that you're doing lots of research well in advance. No problem! It's a nice video, on the surface, but it seems risky to me... the dog and cat obviously get along great together, but there are so many variables / potential risks for the cat, in particular: hawks / other dogs / poisoned food or rodents / traffic / etc. I guess I just worry too much to...

Re: What type of fencing do you use?

I'm in the process of planning a big enclosure in my garden that has to be suitable both for my cat and hopefully, one day soon, my future Tamaskan dog. It's not easy, as the space is pretty big (approximately 400 square meters) and also because cats and dogs are apparently 2 different sorts of esc...

Re: Similarity with cats

I think it really depends on the individual dog... some Tamaskans are very cat-like: a bit aloof, stubborn and independent... while others are very dog-like: goofy, friendly, playful, eager-to-please, etc. Some breeds (Shiba Inu, for instance) are much more cat-like overall. We have 5 adult cats and...

It's great news that you were able to track his family tree.

Assuming that his bloodline is clear and he is not related to Inara, I think you could probably start the health testing process.

It was one of our reasons to use Ravi because he has no known epilepsy risk. Inara has pretty good lines regarding the epilepsy but we knew very well that it is a problem in the breed.
