Re: Movement (single tracking)

I don't think you can blame it on the Finnish huskies when English huskies and Malamutes and indeed most other breeds know how to do it too.

Re: Silly things to be scared off.

I forgot to mention that Riker is also afraid of alcohol. Wave a glass of coke at him, no problem. Wave a glass of whiskey and coke and he will back away real slow and sit on the other side of the room watching. I'm a cruel drunken mum, I've chased him around the room with it to test if he was actua...

Re: Movement (single tracking)

Not all breeds are guilty of this, but most are I agree. Luckily the kennel club are now introducing a fit for purpose scheme and I think slowly it is helping. This year some best of breed winners were not allowed to compete in the big ring after a vet judged them to be too unhealthy. Hopefully this...

We call it pacing too.
Its common in arctic breeds and is most often seen in working sled dogs as they use this gait to conserve energy.

Re: Dog Show advice

There are 2 ways to show, one is where you place the dog in the correct position and teach it not to move. The other is to wave treats to encourage them into the correct position without having to touch them. When teaching pups we start with 'stand' command for a treat. Treats are always kept in the...

Re: The Black-Grey Tamaskan

I suppose it would be easier to line them up in real life. Iola and Dallas are more black than Winnie but they do have grey underneath like Winnie.
Winnie, Dallas and Iola were born black and went lighter where Akim was born grey and went darker. Not sure if that makes a difference?

I think I would say wolf grey. But everyone is right because he has all colours in him and we can argue it all day. Then they change colour again in the fall and fool everyone.
Winnie is grey at the moment but she was black in winter ;)

Tumanra also had quite light eyes when younger that slowly turned to almost a dark orange then finally brown. But she has been known to throw a few light eyes.
Its most likely come through from the husky side as you can get some striking yellow eyes in that breed.

I would not be happy mating Winnie with an ANCD. Because of the colouring of the ANCD ancestry and the colouring of Winnies ancestry I think this would lead to piebald or mismarked puppies rather than black grey, Id rather use a dog that has a history of black behind them, after all I know of no bla...

It is only my opinion of course, but I always encourage new owners to sit pups on their knee (which obviously I cant do when driving several pups over to Europe at the same time) but I wouldnt encourage people to fly their dogs instead as it would make no difference, they still go in the car in a cr...

Mila is a classic case of a crate dog. She was stuck in a crate while travelling over to Europe with me. Travelling with other pups also doesn't always help as they stress each other out.
