A new addition to the pack!

Post by claireyclaire » Sun Aug 28, 2011 12:04 pm

I think I may have mentioned before, although I love Tamaskan (and will be definitely adding more to the family in future!) I have also always been interested in Maremma Sheepdogs, after watching a documentary about them many years ago.

After many months of research into the breed and meeting up with both breeders and owners to understand their pro's and cons, we have decided to add one to our pack!

Yesterday was the day we travelled to the breeder to choose our pup! The breeder has already promised a friend who shows the breed that she can have pick of the litter, so we were asked to pick 2 pups that we were equally happy with, just in case the friend chose one of our pups!

So after 3 hours of this....

we narrowed it down to these two....!

Now we just have to name him... any suggestions gratefully received, something short, unique and preferable Italian (to reflect his heritage!) would be perfect!! :lol:

super cute! :D
Maremma Sheepdogs have been used for centuries by Italian shepherds to guard sheep from wolves.
I wonder how he'll get along with the girls - probably won't be a problem since he'll be raised with them from puppyhood... but makes for an interesting combo!

some name suggestions:
Bianco
Romeo

I know it is quite ironic :lol: But they bond with whatever they have been raised with, they have won a conservation award for protecting penguins in Australia (I think it was Australia!)

So jealous, they are both so cute! When will you know which one is yours?

Italian Names:
Pecora = Sheep
Alessio = Defender
Aniello = Little Lamb
Sansone = Sun
Lucio = Light
Firmino = Strong & Powerful

I could keep going...

Today is the day we pick up our little man! Hardly slept last night, so excited and seeing all the pics of the latest Tam pups going to their new homes hasn't helped! Those pups are gorgeous, I hope that the new fella will match them!

Will post pics later if I get a chance, I think things could be interesting when we introduce him to the girls, I have a feeling a certain 'little' (not) girl will have her nose put out of joint that she isn't the baby anymore! :lol:

He is adorable :)
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
.............................................................
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
