SPAMBOTS

Post by ForumAdmin » Mon Dec 15, 2014 5:49 pm

Dear All,

On Sunday Dec. 14th, several of the web servers powering phpBB.com were compromised (more info: HERE). While this does not directly affect our forum, we have noticed a sudden surge in spambot attacks over the past weekend, despite increased anti-spambot implementations. As a result, we have temporarily disabled user registrations until the phpBB systems are fixed and new security measures are in place. We apologize for any inconvenience!

Once it is available, we will update the forum to the latest phpBB version to ensure that we are fully up-to-date with the latest security patch. While the updating process is ongoing the forum will be temporarily offline (for an hour or so) but we will let you know in advance, before we begin the updating process, so you will be fully prepared for the downtime.

With kind regards,
The TDR Committee

Dear All,

It took a bit longer than expected but the forum has now been updated to the latest version of phpBB, which includes the most recent security patch.
As a result, user registrations have now been reinstated. We hope you enjoy your visits here at the forum!

With kind regards,
The TDR Committee
