Possible Mixes in Kill Shelter - McKinney, TX

Post by HiTenshi16 » Sun Apr 29, 2012 9:54 pm

I have just been informed of these two dogs that look much like Tamaskans, both strays.

The girl was found with a Dalmatian on Friday

The male was found Saturday and brought in.

They are held for 5 days on stray hold. The shelter is filled to the rafters with all runs filled and dogs in crates stacked on top of one another. The shelter works hard to prevent euthanasia but they are overloaded. If I can get help with funding I'm sure my husband won't mind me taking ONE in to foster, may have to take convincing for the other. I fear the time for these two is limited.

So sad as usual. They do look very nice and I hope they and the Dalmation find homes quick.

Got two more photos of the two from the shelter's website.

The girl is listed as a Husky / Unknown and is guessed to be 3 years old, did not say if she was neutered or not.

The boy is listed the same but guessed to be 2 years old, still intact.

I'll shoot off an email to Trina to see if she's interested or knows anyone who might be interested in helping these two... hopefully they'll get adopted soon or pulled by a rescue.

I am so sad that these beautiful dogs are sitting in a kill shelter right now! I wish I had some way of fostering them! Let me forward this on to my facebook friends.

Okay, I have posted about them and created an album with all these photos in it. I also contacted my (now) friend who was in line with me to adopt Timber back in January. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything from anyone. I wish I lived closer to McKinney... I'd go play with these two gorgeous pups!

We can take the girlie IF there is someone willing to pull her and IF there is transport available up to WI. I have contacted the shelter and have asked them to spay the girl and get her UTD so if there is any foster time needed, be assured that she will be "good to go" until she can get up here with us;)

As far as the male is concerned, his ear carriage and tuff just don't strike me as Tammy... the two dogs are not connected, soooo, I'm thinking he'd be suitable for a Mal rescue?

My husband has agreed to let me foster the girl :) I will be able to get her up to WI when I leave for the show.

Everything is moving along just splendidly with the girlie dog ;) HiTenshi has been just a god send to this effort! Could not have done it w/o her! The dog will be picked up this evening. There is a low cost spay clinic avail for her on Friday this week, hopefully HiTenshi is able to get her there, its short notice, but fingers and paws crossed!

Interesting side note about the girl dog, now known as Serenity, the Dalmation she was found with won't let anyone near her, hyper-bonded to the girl. Damn good thing she's getting separated from him ;)

We are looking for donations to support the care and Vetting of Serenity. If anyone can spare a buck or two (or a pound or two) it would be so very appreciated.

Our PayPal handle is:

michiftamaskan@yahoo.com

The male dog (no, not the Dalmation) is still available. We were unable to take both dogs, due to lack of funding....it just makes me sick, but at least we are able to help one....

I've been worried about the boy, loosing sleep over it actually.
I just remembered that my dad said his neighbor fosters dogs so I just sent him a text message to see if she can help. Crossing fingers.

I think we got 'lucky' that the family wanted him as we were unable to pull him ourselves due to lack of funds (this all comes out of our pockets), he was also put on the eauthanasia list because the place just had too many animals. I say he got very lucky! We are looking forward to updates from his owner on Facebook :)
