Ramble Away...

Post by Sylvaen » Tue May 11, 2010 3:19 am

As with previous forums... it's time to revive the "Ramble Away" topic! :D
In this thread you can post about anything you like, whatever comes to mind.

As for me, it's now gone 4am and it doesn't look like Vixen will be having the pups anytime soon this evening so I'm going to bed now... lol I was half-expecting it would be tonight so I stayed up, just incase, but now I'm guessing tomorrow instead. She's humongous but not showing any signs of going into labor or even any restlessness yet, she's just fat and content. Oh well, you can't rush nature! :)

I always sleep on the couch from 7 days before any are due, that way I will be woken when things start moving. Sometimes I have been on the couch just a day as they have been very early and sometimes up to 10 days lol..

Devons having pups?? Please DON'T post any pictures ;) I have no room right now for another dog and as I love Devon I am not sure I could cope with seeing her babies and not wanting one

Hey Claire, Lynn from Devon (the county) wanted a Tamaskan, came up and took away a Malamute lol... now has just booked another from Devon (her other one is from Ellie ) lol... she is doing well with her first one at the shows now and so wanted another to show. She is going to work them both on the rig so that will be brill.

I think I remember you mentioning that! I had never considered Mals before I met Devon and feel instantly in love with her! I bet her pups will be gorgeous!

LOL Arie... welcome back to the Ramble Away! :D

As for me, it's been a verrrrrrrry long night. The obnoxious neighbors on the 2nd floor were partying ALL NIGHT LONG WITH VERY LOUD MUSIC... it wouldn't be so bad if they stayed indoors with the windows / doors closed but they insisted on being on their balcony. My boyfriend knocked on their door at 2am to tell them to stop making so much noise, because he has work in the morning, otherwise he would call the police... they just laughed and said "go ahead"! Since they didn't turn down the music, that's what he did. The police came for the first time around 2:45am to tell them to stop being so loud and to go indoors because they were disturbing the peace. At 4am the party was still going strong so I took the dogs for a walk since I couldn't sleep... and I could hear the noise (and really loud talking / shouting) from 2 blocks away. The police came again around 4:45am to tell them to STFU while I was out walking with the dogs. Around 6am the music got LOUDER because dawn was breaking... and to make matters worse they started throwing empty glass bottles off their balcony onto the carpark / cars below. By this time, when we called the police for the 3rd time, they were already on the way as they'd received several other complaints from other people in our building. Around 7:45am, the troublemakers were finally arrested and driven off to the police station. Some people never learn! Good riddance!

What a loooooong night without sleep... that's why I've been on the forum all night long. LOL *yawn*
I feel bad for my boyfriend, he's at the office right now... at least I can take it easy at home. TGIF!

Oh well, looks as if you've passed your time usefully by updating the forum :)

Hope the police keep your neighbours locked up as long as they can so you can catch up on your sleep.

I hope so too! I don't think they've been released yet but I did manage to get a 5-hour "power nap" this afternoon. :D

Random Rant:
For some very odd reason, all the smoke detectors in the house let out a very shrill BEEEP at 4am last night; the usual green light went red when it ended and then changed back to green.

I fell back asleep... >_>; This morning, I heard only my mom woke up to see what was going on and found the whole house still asleep. Since she didn't find anything out of the ordinary and Abby wasn't reacting to anything, she went back to sleep too. :P

Iunno, perhaps we all expected Abby to give a warning bark or something if there was something amiss in the house. She's excellent with her watchdog role in that she rarely barks unless the garage opens or the doorbell rings, etc (aka indication of someone entering the house). She'll also bark and be wary of any new people that enter the house and it takes her a few minutes to warm up to them. XD (Her warning barks are her making a low uff sound and slight grumbling when she's told to be quiet. ;) I love it when she grumbles...so cute.)

Are they electronic smoke detectors, all on the same system? Perhaps it was just a general re-set.
IF they are individual, battery-operated ones then that IS much more strange... do they detect carbon monoxide or just smoke?

We have a separate carbon monoxide detector that's well....not in use. XD

I think the smoke detector in my mom's room is nearing low battery and all the devices in the house are connected so all of them went off. I literally went "WTF?!" last night and then went back to sleep after panicking for 10 seconds. :P

Random: Having to clean Abby's new decor (cone of shame) after meals is a bit gross...she salivates during meals and it drips all over the inside of the cone. I have to wipe it off with my hands before it reaches her neck and it's all slimy. EW. But I love my silly cone-head regardless. XD

I was just browsing around on my computer when Ulric came to let me know he wanted to go outside. I found out it was not to do his business but to play in the pouring rain (it hasn't rained like this in a long time). I took him outside on a long leash (we don't have a fenced yard) and stayed outside for about 5 minutes for him to play around. I am now soaking wet as is he

Tala hates the rain and refuses to go out, just last week she had an 'accident' by the back door rather than get wet

Whereas Bru will sit in the rain all day if we let him :D

LOL :)

It's funny that Ulric likes the rain... Jasper HATES it (ever since he was a pup) and Vixen isn't too keen on rain either, but she'll put up with it to do her business, etc.

It always amazes me how similar Tala and Jasper are with regards to behavior. I'd love for them to meet up again one day. I'm hoping to get Jasper and Vixen bloodtested this week for Rabies antibody levels so they can travel to the UK next spring/summer perhaps... the only problem is that they can't do the official titer test here in Croatia: they have to send the blood to Ljubljana (Slovenia) for testing.

I just love taking my dog for a walk in the morning. I dropped my daughter off at school and went for my usuall walk along the brook and saw a king fisher. Well I saw a flash of blue as it flew away, never have managed to get close enough to see it properly, hopefully one day. Getting out for the daily walk makes having a dog worth all the hassle!

Ulric has now decided a new way to get me up in the morning. Usually he used to stand there with his front paws on the bed and stare at us and give a "huff" until we get up. Now he is climbing into bed and lays next to me, puts his head on my shoulder and starts to lick my face or give a little whine until I get up   Though I do prefer his method over Rukia's who just paces back and forth whining, lots of whining.

Don't know if this will work… but could everyone who can, please vote for Robert and Kerry Digel. It's for the "Not So" Newlywed Game. They need to be in at least third place. You can vote multiple times. http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/lifes ... _a_3951587

it rained here too allot of rain. but we have had way too much rain, it's now flooding both in the north and south on the east coast,
all my aunt's feed lots have been destroyed, and they are now worried about their live stocks
Dogs are a gift most people don't deserve ^..^
