Tattoo Topic!

Post by Sylvaen » Wed Jun 23, 2010 2:03 pm

As requested, here is the official Tattoo Topic! :D

I have 2 tattoos but neither are wolf-related.
I am still thinking of a nice wolf / tamaskan design for the future.

These are my current ones... (I designed them both myself.)

My belly tattoo I got when I was 17 (so it's a bit faded now).
It is of interweaving vines; representing growth / earth.

Image

Image

My neck tattoo I got when I was 21.
It is an anti-clockwise hurricane symbol; representing wind.

Image

And an idea for a future tattoo that I like…

Image

Or perhaps a wolf tattoo in a similar style instead...

Anyway, I'm happy with the ones I have (for now) and they are in discreet locations so very rarely on show.
Lots of people don't even know that I have them. ;)

Cool tats.
I keep meaning to get more....
I have one big one--I'll have to photograph and post. It's a Celtic zoomorphic of two intertwined dogs. The shape is a triangle. They are dogs of war. I got the tattoo when I was 23--after moving to Montana. I want another one, which I've modified myself, of a Celtic zoomorphic of an intertwined wolf and deer. I know my last name is Italian--but I'm also Irish and German (McCormic, Shirey; Buelow).

Ben on the other hand...I think he has 6 or 7 now...I need to catch up...

Nice tattoos!

I really like your new idea with the horse tattoo!

I only have one small tattoo above my ankle and this stands for Mitch, my rhodesian ridgeback.

Interesting topic. I have been looking for a wolh type tribal design for years. Not that I am looking all that hard, but if anyone sees a tribal wolf Tattoo (head shot) I am interested. I guess I will have to ask Tina to take some picutes of my tattoos so I can post them. I have 4, One I want to change or modify into something different, the one between my shoulder blades I can't even see, I don't know why I picked that area for a tattoo. Whats the point of getting a tattoo if you can't enjoy it. My other 2, I really like. Hopefully by the end of the week end I will post some pics.

I love that tattoo Crista! VERY NICE! :D

I'd love a similar one of a running wolf, perhaps a bit like my logo. ;)

That's a good point. The one on the back of my neck I've never seen directly but I kind of like just knowing that it's there. :)

There are some great tats there. Pity he doesnt want anyone to copy them. I spent ages looking for a wolf but done in an Aztec/Inca style. Couldnt find any and it was before we had the internet.

I have got three, one is a little black rose, one is a phoenix and one is a wolf which looks quite like a Tamaskan (co-incidence as it was long before I heard of them). They are all a bit old and faded now. Will get someone to take photos sometime to post.

Depends where you get them. I didnt find the ones on my arm particularly sore, but the phoenix on my back was a bit nippy, especially the lower bits. But then people have different pain thresholds so its hard to say. Paul, the guy who did my last two, reckons women can take sustained pain better, but again I'm sure its relative to your pain threshold.

get someone to draw what ever you want and and any good tattoo artist will make a good job of it and if you like the photo above that you mentioned (wolf) get them to alter it slightly or just go ahead and get it, what they gonna do? cut your skin off to remove it :) :D :D

as for pain I was just teasing a little, I have 8 myself, two of which were simply drawings that Sara drew then I got them to copy

keep posting the photo's of these tattoo's all are nice

I have 3 foot tattoos but I have never had one done anywhere else so I can't tell you if it is more painful than other places, but I can tell you that it did hurt....lol but not so much it stopped me going back for the other two.
I would love another tattoo but I can't decide what I want........

I have wanted to have a tatoo (or more than one) for a long time.
But I really cannot find the perfect place for it.

I would like it to be somewhere i can cover if i want to,
a place where i will not get all to wrinkled when i get old,
a place that wont expand to much and then ruin the tatoo when/if i get pregnant.
a place that wont make the tatoo ugly if i loose weight..

But I would also like to be able to see it.

I dont really know a place where all of these things is able.. do any of your guys know?

when I find the place, I will draw my tatoo myself.

what awesome tattoos!
i plan on getting a white fluorescent tattoo- the ink glows when near a black light but in regular light it will be invisible (at least the white/clear color is)
and i plan on getting it on my left arm, some kind of swirling ivy filigree design starting from my elbow, flowing down my foream and ending my wrist and the back of my left hand.
this tattoo idea is a compromise between my desires to have a full sleeve and my wishes to remain discreet haha!

Plus, look at it this way: we got tattoos when we were young, which will fade and stretch as we get old.
But you're already old ( :P ) and will have nice, fresh tattoos that will stay looking great. ;)

Well, that took long enough. I think this is originally from the Book of Kells (though I found it in a different source)
This goes across my back, and measures about 8" across.

Thanks Sylvaen :) Ooo, I'm jealous--new tattoo.

Maybe we should have a Tamaskan Dog Show / Tattoo party. haha.

Blufawn--I'm sure there isn't a shortage of references over there. I found quite a few Celtic Iron On Transfer books in the sewing section of our bookstore. I have one of those sewing machines that can do embroidery--boy that stuff is tough! There were a few nice knotwork examples in the book Celtic Magic--one in particular was a Celtic (equal armed) cross.

I've always wanted one but at my age????? what do you all think?
You are never too old, surely.
Besides, now you are that age that you should know what you like, so you are much less likely to regret it later.
My mum had her first tattoo done in 2009 when she was 64. :)
She had some ideas and I drew her a little tribal that she now has on her hand.
Last time I spoke to her she said she was contemplating getting a second tat.
I don't have any photo of the finished tat but here is one of the stencil in place:

I only have one tattoo so far. It is small and very geeky. I had it done 6 years ago.
See if anyone knows what it refers to. ;)
