Thanks folks for the nice comments. The trouble with tattoos is they are very addictive and I am totally in the mood for another, if I could afford it. I may just go for the full body look, to hide the wrinkly bits (well, maybe!). :)

My brother wanted me to design his first tattoo and that was going to be a tribal wolf. This is my first attempt at tribal design let alone designing a tattoo
The first is based off an Arctic wolf, then Grey wolf, then lastly a Black Phase wolf :) Hope you like!

It depends how much you want your brother to suffer, the black one is going to take longer to do....but I do prefer it
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

well after all the years I had considered getting one I finally went ahead and did it!

my sister and I made an agreement early in the year we had to get one each and my mum also decided she wanted to get one too.
so about 6 weeks ago we booked in to have some ink done 6.5 million stingy thingy's each, we later emerged from the Tattoo parlor marked

we decided to go with a Celtic theme as we have Celtic blood on my mums side, the Triquetra was the perfect Icon, to resemble 3 points and endless unity, also to define our strength as a family, it's to resemble new beginnings and tells a tale how we survived years of abuse from my father, and still managed to be socially acceptable.

He did another tattoo on a friend of mine from a drawing I did. It was really good.

Cartoon I like), 3 nautical stars on my wrist (also for blink 182 lol) and my latest one from my holiday to Canada last year of a carebear I had them change into a moose (caremoose. His name is sabastian mapleheart)

A Caremoose that's brilliant! Do you remember Wuzzles they were like carebears but were a mixture of animals I had a Bumblelion. Soo cute!

I got my tattoo when I visited my friend who'd immigrated to Canada. I had the choice, go on a roller coaster or get a tattoo. I got the tattoo!
We got matching ones, so no matter the distance we are connected (being Scottish, we got a thistle with a celtic design).
But she took me to get it done where there was a lot of bikers.
I sat totally naive and asked "what's a big red machine?"
Got told it was the Hells Angels by the guy.
So I told him it didn't sound right!
He asked what.
I replied, "Well if you say, I'm a Hells Angel, that sound much better than, I'm a Big Red Machine!"
The man stopped and just looked at me then I'm sure he pressed harder into my back.
Should have kept my mouth shut.

I've been trying to come up with a wolf tattoo idea for years now, I've gone through many different ideas in my head. Lately I've been trying to put a few on paper. I am a really awful artist so it's hard for me because I can never express what's in my head onto the page! So it's never very satisfying. But I have two kind of vague ideas that I thought I'd run by this group to get opinions on which one people like better. It's embarrassing to post pictures of stuff I drew but if you can get past the lack of drawing skill and imagine that a really great tattoo artist did them instead...!

I'd get them in black/grayscale for sure.

Here's the first one:
Image

And the second:
Image

Neither turned out quite right. The pattern at the bottom I want to be more a combination of those two (the first I find too tribal, the second not complex enough - I am thinking I'd like a combination of roots/detailed pattern merging together. I can't do it...so I have to find a tattoo artist that can!).

The first option is possibly too busy/too many components? Also I wanted the feather to kind of break into the flying birds, I couldn't quite get that right. And the second design is maybe a bit "halloween-y"? Maybe a better artist could make it less so. I don't know...also I like the wolf in the first one better, I kinda rushed the second one. Oh, and the birds are ravens (might not be totally obvious).

Thoughts??

I like the first wolf better but I like the tree on the second one. Both birds are good. And like u said a combo of the two bottom bits would be better.
I'd say take them both in to a tat shop. A lot of them will just draw something basic on th spot for you for free

I really like the first one, and I think you drew them out very well :D
