Eurovision's 2014 Winners - Conchita Wurst

Post by Tiantai » Tue May 13, 2014 9:02 pm

With the theme being about tolerance, Conchita Wurst, often dubbed as the lady with the beard, has brighten up the stage and fired up new hopes for a better future. While mixed reactions were made, Wurst has sprung many supports within the LGBTQ community. Please enjoy this touching song "Rise like a Phoenix" sung by the beautiful voice of Conchita Wurst.

I don't follow the Eurovision Song Contest but it was a spectacular performance. :)

Really liked this performance and the guts to stand there on stage dressed up like a diva with a beard, really great!!!!!
Just for this guts I would want her/him to win.
8-)

One part of Austria is very very proud and the other part is just stupid, jealous, intolerant...it's unbelieveable
what some people say: "It's a shame for Europe!", "It's the end of old traditions!", "It's bla bla bla!"

Why is it a shame for Europe when Europe wanted Conchita to win??
In my opinion it's a step in the right direction, because it's also a win of tolerance.

I agree. I had to train myself to ignore all of the outrageous attitudes that the homophobes and transphobes have been blasting all over the place. This is 2014, a different world from the homophobic and transphobic one from decades ago. However, reading this article gave me a little giggle:

http://arts.nationalpost.com/2014/05/12 ... ns-praise/
Ironically, Wurst received more votes by jury and televote from Russia than from several other countries.
Not to elevate this topic to a political level but I do consider this a total run in the face of the homophobes.

Yeah it's a shame how bigoted some people are!!
But it's also good to see that the majority stands for tolerance and diversity..let the "others" think and say
what they want...
