Howling Competition

Post by HiTenshi16 » Thu Aug 02, 2012 3:27 pm

Dear forum members,

Starting today, we are starting a "Howling Competition" now open to entries. All you have to do is get a good video of your dog howling! Who ever has the best howl wins. You have until September 30th, 2012 (Sunday), to enter your video and then a voting period of 2 weeks (October 1 -14, 2012) will be held.

Have fun, and good luck!

With kind regards,
The TDR Committee

We have an idea, but it involves a peacock, so we need to arrange a visit to a friend's house.

I've been trying to get my guys to howl for a while lately but they just don't seem interested - unlike a few years ago when they would howl on cue!

We'd also have better luck if the volunteer fire siren goes off. That almost always gets a howl going.

Great video, but it has to be of your own dog howling ;) Like for me, it would have to be of Ulric or Rukia howling.

Oh, bummer. My friend's mal/husky mix with woo, woo, howwwl with every environmental change - being let out of crate, going thru doors, going back into the crate, and of course, sirens. Lol. He's awesome, but it does get old after a while. Very cute otherwise.

My lab doesn't know what howling is... :\ not even a yawn/howl. Haha. Looking forward to howling dogs!! :)

Czechoslovakian Wolfdog Raksha, heartbroken over the fact that she was left behind by her people. My parents went on a bike ride and wanted to take Raksha with them, for she loves to run, but for some reason she was limping, so they returned home, and started off without her. This was shot a considerable time after they left.
This is not her usual howl, when she responds to sirens. She is crying and sobbing here, the poor little girl. But don't worry, she went on many bike rides since;]

Maybe it looks just like this because of the camera angle or because the dogs are so excited that they just jump around not minding what their feet do, but Winter's leg looks like it's bent a little awkwardly?

I attached 3 stills to show what I mean.

Not sure if this counts, I originally posted it a couple of years ago, but have not managed to film it since!

My husband thought it would be very clever to try and teach Elska to howl! And even more cleverly he thought he would video it! He is making most of the noise at the start until she gets the hang of it!

If you are wondering why she is so high she had just started to get on top of her crate,

Okay then, this is our entry. :P
Poor Wikus feels the call of the wild, and I almost feel sorry for him. He sounds so desperate.
I've "trained" him to howl since he was a puppy, and for the first year he just got excited, it was very difficult to get him to howl. And he only responded to wolf-howls, dogs barely bothered him.
Now he can howl at anything... even my flute.

But here he was listening to wolf howling.

Too bad you have not had a chance to hear them in person yet ;) While I was at Michifloo's house with Ulric, he was outside while I was in and he did not know where I was. He let out this beautiful howl that sounded like a wolf! Of course he only did it once...

A coywolf owner had told me that pups have a tendency to do that. To them a howl is another dog/wolf calling them and so they would instinctively approach it as a natural response. Too bad Kumho was tricked though
