Art Competition

Post by blufawn » Tue Aug 17, 2010 3:13 pm

Since a virus struck my computer im afraid to say a lot of the websites have gone down and I am in the middle of putting them all back online but sadly some things have been lost that may be difficult to replace and so I am having to do them all over again.
The main TDR, Euro Tams, TDSGB and the dog show are all safe but some of the smaller websites such as Tamaskan Rescue UK and the Health Database have taken a bit more of a hit.

Seeings as I have noticed your all wizzes with the computer or fab on the artwork I have put together a few little competitions and will get some nice prizes to give away. I don't want to say what they are because it may vary depending on the location of the winners, I can't post anything heavy to USA for example unless I want to pay a fortune in postage, so lets call them secret prizes for now :)

1. Super Posh Fancy Logo
Although the TDR website is not affected I thought I would throw this one in.
I quite like the idea of a fancy design for the important/formal paperwork etc for the TDR, something along the lines of the kennel clubs logo (see below). With the TDR or Tamaskan Dog Register and the year 2006.

Image

2. Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals/logos
The old ones were rubbish (see below) and we have lost them so I think its time for some better ones. The accredited breeders scheme was in need of a revamp and it has now been re-written and bits changed about, now we need some new medals for the bronze, silver and gold members to place on their websites. I think this is a very important scheme as it trys to promote good breeding practices and also educated the public about who the best breeders are and hopefully will persuade them away from puppy farms/mills. Prize given only for all three medals (bronze, silver and gold) Artwork or computer wizardry.
Image

3. Tamaskan Rescue UK Logo
The logo for Tamaskan Rescue UK has been lost and we desperately need a new one. Try to remember the reason we need rescue in your artwork and come up with a fitting theme. Artwork or computer wizardry.

All designs need to be in by Oct 30th 2010 and the winner will be announced by Nov 5th.

Good luck everyone.............. feel free to use any photograph from the TDR, TDSGB and Blustag or Blufawn websites for your design. Any other breeder/owner who gives permission for their photos to be used by the public for this competition ONLY should say so below.

Of course, it is open to everyone, even if you don't own a Tamaskan or don't even want one.

It would be nice to see a few logos like Nino's above. We can then have a vote for the best.

I've been working a little bit more with the logo, giving it some shadows.
And with the same groundwork i've been making gold, silver and bronze logos/medals

Ohh, then we are doing the same study I think :D
For me it's called webdevelopment (php, html, css, SQL etc.), but I also learn real programming languages (c# for example) and a part game development (flash & actionscript).

ok so theoretically, if I set a competition to re-vamp the dog showing club website and make it so that people can upload their own photos instead of sending it to me to put on, could that be done?

For me that would be a yes. Does your webhosting supports PHP/MySQL?

Usually there will be a list available on your hostings website, you can see all the options you have with certain packages. There are other ways but I think that this will be the least complicated ;)

I found this on my control page, no idea what it means though :)

Current versions of MySQL which are available to customers are as follows:

mysql1.namesco.net : version 4.1.22
mysql2.namesco.net : version 5.0.58
mysql3.namesco.net : version 5.0.58
mysql4.namesco.net : version 4.1.20

Sorry it is basically last minute (I'm such a procrastinator) but I finally have my computer back (refurbished from my brother-in-law) and had to transfer some old programs back on. But here is my entry for the TDR logo, two different versions of the same thing.
Will post up next the Medal logos and Tamaskan Rescue UK logos tomorrow when I finish them after I get off work.
