Mini Tamaskan Meet Up

Post by claireyclaire » Sat Jan 22, 2011 7:33 pm

We had a lovely meet up with Annette and Gary and their Tamaskans Onai and Annu today, Onai is Tala's brother and they always seem to recognise each other and are always pleased to have a catch up and play! All 4 of them have the same dad, so it is a family re-union all round. Tala is so in love with the handsome boys that she wanted to go home with them!

it's cute ;)
I was wondering: Onai and Annu seem to both have a mark around their muzzle, what is it's origine ? Is it because of the past use of a licol like the one of Tala ?

Great video! So nice to see Tala and Onai together. Nice family reunion! :)

As you said, it is from the "head collar" (which is an anti-pulling device) that leaves a mark on their muzzles.

Yes, you are right the mark is from a head collar similar to the one Tala is wearing, it is strange as I use the Halti on all my dogs, but it only seems to mark Elska and not Tala or Bru, I think it depends on their fur and/or how hard they pull!

Great video Claire! It was a great day if rather cold ! I am always surprised that Onai and Tala seem to know they are related and all four seem to know they are are the same breed !

Re the head collars we dont use them on daily walks just when we are in a different enviroment like yesterday where we need to make sure we have contol over them as they are powerful pullers!

I never used it, I used the harness "easy walker" for 2 dogs I've re-educated, so I didn't know it leaves a mark ;)

Lovely pics, is the paw batting a Tamaskan thing? Thor loves to use his paws on other dogs heads, its ok if they are big enough but small dogs tend to object. Our terrier does, but then she objects to most of what he does, she is 12 so to be expected.

I think its more submissive and attention seeking than anything else. My girls only do it if they are trying to encourage play or cuddles from me or my other dogs.

I think with Tala it is definitely a sign of affection! She will only do this with dogs that she is very friendly with. In the evening when I sit on the sofa she will jump up next to me and just gently put her paw on my arm or shoulder, she only ever does this with me, never my husband! It is very sweet :)
