re. Hi from Edinburgh, Scotland

Post by silvermagpie » Tue Dec 06, 2011 9:47 pm

Hi there,
Never really been on a forum before so don't quite know what to say.
A very nice lady called Lynn Hardey recommended that I check this forum out.
I have been looking into the Tamaskan breed for a while and hope to be a future owner of one. I have a chocolate working Cocker Spaniel who is a year old and is called Charlie, hence the avatar. (That's my chocolate monster!)
Like many other people I have always liked wolves, owls and elephants. I have worked with many domestic and exotic animals but never one of the three until recently. I was lucky enough to do an apprenticeship as a falconer and work with many types of raptors including owls.
Don't laugh but I loved watching Due South when I was younger, I loved Diefenbaker who was represented to be half wolf. The idea of having such a majestic animal as your friend was awesome. But impractical, so my dad said, as I lived on a poultry farm. Our Sheltie at the time would not only round the sheep up but also the chickens too.
My family have had many breeds of dog over the years all wonderful even Heinz variety ones but what draws me to the Tamaskan is their close resemblance to the wolf (obviously!) but also because they are still a dog. I have unfortunately never met a Tamaskan yet but from what I have read about the breed and the dogs I have seen on you tube. They have one of the most lovely temperaments.
Hope that explains a bit about me and why I'm here. :?

Thank you, he knows how to use them too.
If he doesn't get his own way, instead of sulking, he does the huge puppy eyes.
He drops his head and looks out through his top lashes and cuddles into you.
He does it on purpose it's almost laughable except when it's your heart strings he's trying to pull. I tell him, "it's not working!" So he then goes and sulks.

There’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.
The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.

The wolf that wins? The one you feed!

~ Cherokee Proverb

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity... I'm not sure about the former.

Hi Jen,
Boundless energy  Charlie could run up and down the Pentland Hills all day, I have to make him use his brain or he'd be still bouncing off the walls when gets home. Tamaskan intelligence should make that interesting. I wonder what they'll teach each other.
It's great they get on well together, can I ask if you had the spaniel first please?
Regards Sara xxx

I really cannot tell you how well they get on...they love each other sooo much and play all the time but obviously the down side is they both egg each other on rather a lot!!! I would say that now Sash is two Bea is deffo the mad one of the pair...Sash is quite happy to laze about after her walk now she is grown up but Bea!!!!!!
