Hello from Spain

Post by Sharon637 » Sat Feb 04, 2012 6:09 pm

Hello All

My name is Sharon Louise Joan-Figuerola (DOB 06.06.70) and I am the proud owner of two Tamaskans. I am Scottish and our dogs are both from the UK but we moved to Spain in August last year. Our dogs are much admired here and several people have asked if we will be having puppies! Although male and female, they come from the same sire so puppies were a no no and therefore our girl is neutered. We have not come across any other Tamaskans since coming to Spain and have had many enquiries here regarding the breed. The vet had to register them at the town hall as Alaskan Malamutes as that was the closest match they had! Wolves are protected here and a lot of the Spanish have stopped us to ask if they are actually wolves. Especially our girl Tala who is a lovely red colour and looks quite like the European wolves that are found here.

My interest in this forum is just to be in touch with other Tamaskan owners and to keep up to date with events and happenings in the wonderful world of Tamaskans :)

There’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.
The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.

The wolf that wins? The one you feed!

Thanks for the lovely welcome from everyone! Yes they seem to cope fine with the heat, I was a bit worried about that at first. Dakotah (my boy) loves nothing better than to bask in the sun. Tala our girl is a bit more wary of the heat and will stick to the shade. We are careful to walk them in the cooler early morning or later evening. When it hit about 34 deg they would come inside and lie under the ceiling fans to cool down, clever dogs!

We have a pool but neither of them have plucked up the courage to come in yet. Dakotah splashes about on the first couple of steps but Tala is a diva who doesn't like getting her paws wet!

Struggling to get pics uploaded but will keep trying. Learning curve for me! Back home when anyone (me included) thought Wolf, we thought timber wolf so I always thought the boy was more wolfy and the girl more foxy so it was interesting to come here and see them look in excitement at the girl and ask if she was a wolf.

Ahhh, my files are too big they are exceeding the limits. Not sure how to correct that but will try. Seen some fantastic pics of all your lovely dogs :)

Hi Sharon, There actually are no registered Tamaskan in Spain, so yours will be the first, how exciting. Be sure to send me your dogs details and your new address so we can add it to the list of countries we are slowly taking over :D
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Hello and welcome and enjoy and... well Hi!!!
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or play with it, just pee on it and walk away
