Hello

Post by jholtzlander » Thu Oct 11, 2012 3:56 pm

My family and I are located here in central Ohio. We are a two physician household with two young boys and we've been considering adding a puppy to our family now that our careers are settling down, the boys are getting older, and we have more time to give a new addition the attention it deserves. Our families have a long history with dogs of many breeds and my wife introduced me to the Tamaskan after seeing pictures and reading about their temperment. Following several months of casual research on the breed, we decided to go ahead with the purchase. Unfortunately, my research was only on the breed itself and not on the breeders, and following a negative experenice with RightPuppyKennels, we decided to do a bit more due diligence before moving forward. To be honest, the amount of effort involved in unraveling the drama surrounding this breed and it's breeders was extensive and a bit overwhelming. However, it seems to have been worth it since I feel I'm in the right community now.

We've postponed our purchase for now as we digest the large amount of information on this site and get a feel for the individual breeders. I had no idea so much time and energy would be involved in getting our new dog, but we are committed to supporting the Tamaskan breed and making sure we deal with reputable breeders who have the dog's best interests in mind.

I look forward to getting to know all of you better.

Jeff

There’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.
The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.

The wolf that wins? The one you feed!

Welcome aboard the Tamaskan community forum Jeff, I am sorry that you started out badly having fallen into RPK's trap but am glad you got yourself out of that hole. For a list of reputable breeders, you can look here on this updated website.

http://www.tamaskan-dog.org/breeding/breeders/

You might as well save that link since it's a bit tricky to move the cursor over to that link from the website on certain computers using an outdated mouse.

Welcome to the forum. As an owner of both an RPK dog and a TDR breeder dog, there is a difference in health, upbrininging and support. Do your homework since this is a lifelong committment (and these guys tend to live a little longer than other large breeds).
