A second hello from Milwaukee!

Post by Ausbird » Wed Jan 09, 2013 6:58 pm

Hi there! I've been lurking around here for a couple weeks, but since the TDR referred me here from Facebook I may as well use that as an excuse to introduce myself.

I'm a grad student living with my partner noxbird in Milwaukee, WI, and we're hoping to obtain a Tamaskan puppy from a TDR-registered breeder later this summer if there's one available. He posted an introduction yesterday as well, so all the same applies here (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3800). Never owned a dog before, but I'm an enthusiastic researcher and I've worked summers in high school with the birds of prey/flight show program at a zoo so I'd like to think I know a thing or two about a healthy diet and the consequences of overfeeding at least. :)

It's neat to be given the opportunity to see the process of new breed development in action, even with its complications and disagreements. I feel like I'm learning more out of necessity about the good practices and pitfalls of dog breeding than I ever would have pursuing a closed stud book purebred dog. Well done to whoever made the TDR dog database; that thing is quite informative.

I'm looking forward to paying a visit to Moondance this weekend so I can see my first Tamaskans in person! We intend on making it to the breed show in Madison this year as well. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome! How exciting for you to be meeting Tams for the first time this weekend. If you think they're beautiful in photos, just wait until you see them in person. :D

Hi and welcome :D

There’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.
The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.

The wolf that wins? The one you feed!

~ Cherokee Proverb

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity... I'm not sure about the former.

Viewing things online for a long time always seems to trick the mind into having a strange sense of proportions, so it'll be nice to reorient myself to how they appear in reality. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. :)
