Welcome to the forum!

Why is it that you believe your dog is a Tamaskan?

Could be a Czech wolfdog or a Saarloos too.
The first one is getting rather famous and widespread.

Aren't wolfdogs illegal in France? Maybe you can post a picture of your pooch :)

Nope. There are lots of CSV and Saarloos breeders in France.

Nope. There are lots of CSV and Saarloos breeders in France.
But the French don't consider them wolfdogs, I am talking like American Wolfdogs.

Ahh OK. Nope American Wolfdogs are permitted in France, there are quite a few of them there.
I think only pure wolves and F1-F3 mixes require special permits.

If I'm right, we are allowed to have wolfdog from F5.
F4 owners should have some kind of license to own them, I learned this not long ago

After being a bit concerned about all of this, I searched for the french law text to be sure.
Actually it was weird, some people are speaking about F4, other about F5 - and I get really suspicious when I found a website saying that they had no "proof" for that number.

So. There is a law and I read it many times, that is saying that any french people wanting to own a wolf or a "close related" should have some kind of autorisation. And there is absolutely nothing about the number of generations this law text is about.
More, for what I have read, this is not to forbid wolfdogs. But to regulate abuses about owning real wolves. It's about how the wolf lives, how the owner can handle their behavior, and mainly that they can't be breed without a further autorisation. And if there is an accidental breeding, the pups have to be placed in a wolf center/shelter.
