Hello!

I'm Evan, a freelance pet portrait artist and on my way down a career in companion animal training, behaviour, and welfare. While I currently live in Connecticut, I do plan on moving to England when I have the finances for it.

At the moment I have a border collie x siberian husky named Shuck, who is 1 and a half years old. We are starting on our canine parkour routine and plan on doing more with his trick training, barn hunt, and agility! My girlfriend is heavily involved in Siberians and plans on adding one to the family, so bikejoring/canicross/mushing is probable for every dog that lives with us!

I have been working my way through researching pedigrees, lines, and basically anything I can get my hands on regarding Tamaskans and hope to have one as my service dog in the near future and am talking to two breeders about it at the moment. I figured to join in here and partake in discussion to get the most out of the community experience.

I would love to hear any differences you have found, physically and temperamentally, between various lines where experience applies! I look forward to learning more about how everyone plans on keeping the diversity pool, well, diverse and what breeds are being included in such endeavors.

Best,
Evan

Hello.

Welcome to the forum. As Nino mentioned, the forum isn't as active. However, feel free to post here. I find it easier to search topics and find less drama (and blocking) here. I do hope it picks back up. Some good Facebook sites are "Tamaskan Dog - Debate & Discussion" and 'All About Tamaskans." There are several members with Tamaskans from different lines and content who can help give you advice. My girl is an lovely (I'm biased!) Tamaskan Dog from Sylvaen Tamaskan and now starting (hopefully...sire hunting) the Firefly Tamaskan in Texas. She is from an outcross litter with a White Swiss Shepherd.

Welcome to the forum, Evan! :)

Sorry for the slow response, I've been so wrapped up with puppies and other priorities lately that I haven't been posted on the forum in ages. As the others have said, the forum isn't that active these days (sadly) - however, I've decided to take a step back from the gazillion+ FB groups just to focus on the forum instead, from now on (just like the good old days). Lately I find it's getting almost impossible to follow all the groups on FB as there are just so many (some countries even have multiple groups of different factions) and it's so incredibly time-consuming to keep track of everything... not to mention, pretty much impossible to try to find any old posts for reference (the FB search algorithm is a nightmare). So I'm going to "unfollow" all the FB groups and do my part to revive this forum instead, and I'm hoping you'll stick around to see it pick up again. :)

Please feel free to post some of your pet portraits in the Gallery section of the forum (we have a whole section for artwork!)

If you can handle a Border Collie x Siberian Husky, you shouldn't have any problems with a Tamaskan... though you will likely notice some differences in behavior (in particular, a Tamaskan pup will likely be a lot calmer and less energetic). I hope you'll succeed in finding a good service dog prospect! :)
