more tamaskan puppy scams

Post by MelB » Sun May 15, 2011 2:52 pm

Spotted this http://for-sale.yakaz.co.uk/tamaskan-puppies-for-sale
Some adds less than a day old. Supposedly KC registered - I love that seeing as it's not a KC registered breed yet. LOL.
Is it just me or do these photos look very familiar from another certain disreputable site? In fact it's the same puppy several times over! Must be a very well travelled puppy to be in Oban one week and Cardiff the next.

I was wondering, couldn't we report the ads which are not clearly mentioned as Tamaskan Wolfdog or Aatu tamaskan ?
I mean, if there is only "Tamaskan" in it, or if the writing of the ad is mistaking, couldn't we report it, saying that's it's falsification of a registered name for selling crossing breed ?
I don't see it as a naughty thing, just normal thing : they want to sell their breed ? Fine, but then, they have to stop using the name and the reputation of another one for that, they have to use their own and nobody will annoy them, as long as they take well care of their dogs.

If you look up the email address for that ad (kennyweslyxx@hotmail.com) you'll see that he is a scammer. He's got countless different ads listed, for many different breeds. No doubt an identity theft scam (from collecting personal info) and probably stealing deposits too. http://www.ukclassifieds.co.uk/tamaskan ... 32692.html

You can click the flag on the adverts and report them for fraud. I have done
One of the photos is of one of our puppies
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

I have reported some as fraud. Some already seem to have been taken down, although the initial picture is still there.

Wow, are they aristo-dogs ?

well done Rahne !
At the end, will you tell him that he's not selling tamaskan, but cross-breed ?

Here in france, anyone who sell a unregistered dog can write : "unregistered Labrador" by exemple, but only "lookalike labrador"

Re: more tamaskan puppy scams

Post by Sylvaen » Sun May 15, 2011 11:31 pm

he probably doesn't even have ANY puppies to sell at all, mixbreed or not...

it's a very common Identity Theft scam:

Are you married?
Do you have kids?
What is your occupation?
Were exactly are you located?

With that info, he can easily sell it on to other people or just get your credit card number (when you transfer a 'deposit') and then empty your bank-account. Sometimes they are only after the deposit. If 100 people all pay a $200 'deposit' for a puppy that doesn't exist, you can make good money. This fraud happens all too often these days... almost as common as '419 scams'.
Pet scams

Another such scam is based on the adoption of a puppy or an exotic pet such as parrots or reptiles. A scammer first posts an advertisement or sets up a web page offering puppies for adoption or for sale at a ridiculously low price, most often using stolen pictures from other websites and respectable breeders. When a victim responds to the ad and questions the lowered price or the reason for giving up such an expensive pet, the scammer first explains that they have recently moved to Nigeria or Cameroon from the US for work (usually volunteer work as missionaries or a UN transfer) or for studies, and claims either to have no time to properly care for the pet, that the weather has had such a terrible toll on the pet, or that they have too many pets to care for- often asking for follow-up holiday photos of the pet and a continued line of communication so that the victim does not suspect a scam.

The scammer and victim exchange a few e-mails to build trust. They may even send (fake or stolen) photo IDs to further prove their credibility. Once it is established that the victim offers the right home for the pet, the scammer offers to ship the pet, and requests the victim only pay for shipping, or comes off the original price substantially to seem legitimate. The victim, who now has an emotional attachment to the pet, feels obligated and even happy to do so, as shipping is a small price to pay compared to the pet's full price at a shop or breeder. The scammer requests Western Union or MoneyGram (untraceable and irreversible) to keep the deal going in a timely fashion as the pet is ready to go to a new home and the victim is now excited. However, after wiring money, the victim does not receive the pet (as it does not exist), and if the victim does hear from the scammer again it is only for more money (to get animal out of airport holding/quarantine, "refundable" life-insurance fees or to pay unexpected vet bills that have come up) until the victim stops responding. This is extremely common currently in Nigeria and Cameroon.[43]

Another type of scam that is beginning to appear is the selling of a pet by the victim. The scammer typically contacts the victim by a newspaper ad or through an online service with the aid of a call-relay service. After this call has been made, communication is done through email. As mentioned above, trust is built between the scammer and the victim by emails. The structure of the scam is that the seller of the animal (victim) will have the asking price of the animal plus the shipping price sent to him/her through a fake check. The victim will then deposit the check then wire the funds to the scammer through a Western Credit Union location. The "shipper" is often non-existent and described as being "private". Once the money has been wired, the scammer wins.

If you are going to try and scam then correct English would help, and 'nothing to worry about' would make me worry. When will people learn if it sounds too good to be true then it's not true. I have never yet understood how people can fall for the nigerian scams, I suppose they are not paying as well now so they are looking for different income.
