TAMASKAN MEETING IN THE NETHERLANDS

Post by Blustag » Wed Sep 28, 2011 10:29 am

GUYS. There is to be a Tamaskan gathering coming up shortly in The Netherlands. I know there are a lot of people over that way who would like to attend and dont know about this. I have several enquires in now from Europe and think it would be a good idea if those wanting puppies next year were to attend and meet some older pups and adults.

There are also several people with the Saarloos and Czech wolfdogs who are interested in attending and I would like to say that EVERYONE is welcome :D

Please pm either Gaby or Rahne who are the organisers. They are both here on the forum. Perhaps Gaby/Rahne one of you could put up a full detail announcement here with date and venue. The more people that know this is coming up the better as it would be very sad if they were to miss the opportunity of attending. I know I had several enquires here in UK after our show in May and they were gutted to have missed it.

I already missed one, then we'd miss 2 out of 8. If we hadn't missed the first one I would but missing 2 sessions would be to much for us

we could but it will take about 2 hours to get there, I don't know how long everyone will be there but I don't want to drive 4 hours in total to be there for just an hour or so.

I can't tell exactly how long we are going to be there.. But there are several people that have to drive for quite some time so we will probably stay for several hours, maybe afternoon 3 or 4. Ofcourse people can leave earlier if they want to.

Yes, we will stay quite long and not because of the long drive, but most of the times it is nice to see so many interested and friendly people. ;) When I have a meeting over there we'll normally stay until 3pm or later. ;) And I've been to three Catahoula meetings in 't Leesten now and they started earlier, at 10 o'clock.

Tamaskan meeting is tomorrow already! :D

But we have another setback with Mila's health. Mila has the biggest hotspot I've ever seen right now... :( We shaved her chest and the insides of her front paws. She is not feeling well and sleeping the whole day. She is wearing a T-shirt to prevent her from scratching and sleeps on our bed so we can keep an eye on her, day and night. We can't leave her alone. Today she got pain medication to stop the itching and antibiotics from the vet. We first gave her a treatment with washing and unguent only, that didn't work enough. I hope she will be feeling better tomorrow. She will be looking horrible at pictures, I think I leave the T-shirt on. I hope she will be fine soon and her hair will grow back fast too. I am really fed up with all the visits to the vet. :(

Thank you for all the kind words! The hotspot is starting to get better. :) But her chest looks horrible, we shaved all the hair away. If Rahne posts the (stunning!!!) pictures from the Tam meeting you will see. Hope the hair will grow back soon.

Thanks! The white dog is a White Swiss Shepherd and the light colored pup in front is a cross German Shepherd x Saarloos Wolfdog and Siberian Husky x White Swiss Shepherd. She is a 5 month old girl named Ziva and she looks a lot like a Tamaskan. They both belong to someone in the Netherlands and I had invited them over with their dogs to come and meet the breed ;)

Well as far as I know the White Swiss Shepherd were bred from White German Shepherds. The white was an unwanted color in the German Shepherd breed so people weren't allowed to show and breed with whites that were born but some people liked the color very much and started to breed them together to get more whites. After many years they could get the breed recognized as a different breed 'White Swiss Shepherd'. They differ now not only in looks but also in temperament because of the selective breeding so they are certainly not the same anymore as the German Shepherd ;)

Great photos, glad you all had a good time :)
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
