TAMASKAN SHOW UK 2012 (10TH ANNIVERSAY SPECIAL)

Post by Blustag » Fri Mar 23, 2012 8:40 pm

Im sure I put a topic here before for this coming show but not to worry here it is again.

It is to be held in UK on Saturday 12th May. There will be camping as usual from Friday through to Sunday with the actual show
on the Saturday. Start time will be approx 12 noon to give everyone a chance to arrive on time if they are travelling from Europe
or elsewhere in UK. The venue most likely will be in the Nottingham area close to the M1 but full details will be here soon as we
have a choice of venues at the moment.

This is to be a VERY SPECIAL show with it being our 10th year in the breed so we are hoping that as many people will attend
as possible. There will be a lot of classes put on this year for everyone to enjoy. Rosettes, Trophies etc will be on offer as
usual.

Everyone is welcome whether you have a Tamaskan or not. We will also be putting on a class especially for visiting non
Tamaskan dogs and some novelty classes just for the fun of it.

Full details will appear here as they come in.

We are also hoping that this year we may have some visitors from our American Tamaskan Club and from our Euro Club.

If anyone would like to volunteer their services for the day it would be much appreciated

We will be having an official photographer visit the show and they have very kindly offered to do portraits for those that want them and will be donating prizes for our show. This family have just purchased a Jackal/Susi boy in UK. They also do pictures on cushions,
mugs and so on so well worth a visit to their stand on the day.

I'm debating coming. I'm not sure if I can afford it but I'm really skimping on money so it might be a possibility ;)

We did do a talk on sled racing and use of dogs and equipment at a previous show but I dont think this year we will put
on any demonstrations as we have more classes being the anniversary show so more time involved in the judging etc.
I guess we will see what time we have on the day. We are starting midday to give everyone a chance to get there on time
and also have to think about those with long journeys home again. Not everyone will be staying overnight camping ;)

Ok, Thanks for that. I only asked, as If I manage to get myself down, could I bring Shay's cart along as a demonstration on a form of "Work" that Tamaskans can do ??? I hope I can come as it would be great to see all the dog's. :D

The Euro Club Committee sadly wont be running a show this year due to committments here in UK and our house move.
We still have the Anniversary Show to organise here in UK for 12 May... Im sure we will be back over though next year
and will make it a Special Event ;)

There are no pitch fees but there will be an entrance fee (all takings going to the TDCGB) We usually donate to a worthy cause too.
I think the entrance was £2 last year but full details will be available soon.

We're really looking forward to the show.

Can someone help me please? I've got a cat show that weekend in Swanley in Kent, as we want to come to Tam Fest, I'm only doing Sunday at the cat show, and am trying to decide whether to go down there on the Saturday evening or not....... Is anyone able to give me an indication of what sort of time the show is likely to finish on Saturday? I'm taking kittens to their first show, so if it's likely to be late, I'll just do an early start with them Sunday rather than dashing around with them Saturday night..........

Thanks

The show usually finnishes around 3-4pm, but there are a lot more classes this time so who knows.

There will be a lot of socialising during and after the show as most of us will be camping over so that may be something to
bear in mind. Good luck with your cats by the way :D

Thank you :) I'm taking two kittens to try and help me decide which one to keep....!

I think I've decided I'll go to the cat show Sunday morning, that way we don't have to have a mad dash off at the end of the day and can do some socialising :D

Thanks Debbie, I was starting to get worried a 3 man tent wouldnt be big enough, but your pics have put my mind at rest. I might get a bigger one if its something that we would do regularly later on.

You could try a Trailer Tent. I started with a tent years ago and then progressed to a Trailer Tent then caravan and then motor home and wouldnt go back now

Just over a week to go and getting super excited.

Is there any further information? Could someone answer the following questions for me.

Intention is to arrive Friday and stay Fri and maybe Sat night depending on the camping goes.

What is the food situation? Will there be onsite facilities, if so during what times? Outside of these times is it takeaway? Anyone from the area have any recommendations?

What are the washing and toilet facilities at the venue if any? (For all three days?)

Never been camping for recreation before, any essentials (apart from beer) items that I just shouldnt forget. I'm thinking loo roll, torch, spare batteries, spare beer ;-). Anything else?

Are we going to be the only ones in a tent? :-)

Don't forget mosquito / bug spray - it might not be necessary but better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! Sunscreen would also be a good idea since you'll be outdoors a lot. Don't forget to pack a few pillows too - it makes the world of difference for getting a good night's sleep.

I will be arriving early evening on the Friday. Food will be provided this year by a local van so my guess is that we could
go out locally on the Friday night to eat or get a take away as the van will only be there during the Saturday daytime.

I havnt been to the venue but I guess there should be toilets as it is a large equestrian centre.

Apart from the Beer lol... you would be as well to bring a torch and loo roll wouldnt go amiss  As you are in a tent
I suggest that you have extra blankets etc to make sure you stay warm. Camping is in a field where horses usually are but
have been taken off for the weekend.

Are we going to be the only ones in a tent? Not sure about this :D

What time are those arriving Friday aiming to get there? I've got about a 4 hour drive on a clean run, but its M20, M25, M11 on a Friday. Depending on the time of day that 4 hours could be 6-8 Hours :-S. So its either and early start or a late to miss the rush hour.

We're driving down from Scotland with our caravan on Friday. Hoping to get there for about 6.00 pm (ish) but obviously depends on the traffic etc.

Because its the anniversary show I decided to add two new classes to the companion section, just for fun.
We now have a sausage catch and musical sit, so grab your dogs and get practicing :)

Yes toilet and washbasin but you must vacate the premises by 8am Sunday as
there is a horse show and it will be very busy
Makes you feel wanted

Does that mean that you have to vacate the facilities by 8am or everyone be completely off site by 8am? Better make sure that not too much drinking goes on the night before if so! :D

I got the impression it was the site. I'll only be staying over Friday night now.

I have just spoken to them and although there is an event going on as long as cars are parked out of the way so we do not get blocked in then time of leaving is not too much of a problem. It is probably worth checking on arrival. It may just mean moving the cars in the morning out of the way.

who is planning to camp? I am planning on going Friday night to Sunday morning, but do not want to be the only ones there

Im going to be there approx 6pm on Friday but will be leaving to come home after the show on Saturday as I have the dogs to see to.
Next year hopefully we can organise it at home like we did last year and then it will be much more relaxed and I dont have to worry
about the dogs left behind. Im fortunate I have someone home this time to look after them overnight and for Saturday day time.
Because I am travelling I wont be taking all of the dogs only a small handful.

:-S Slight change of plan. My other Half now has to work late on Friday, so we will now be travelling up Early Saturday morning Instead so we wont be camping over Friday now.

Still looking forward to seeing everyone.
