Dog Survival 2013, Netherlands

Post by Rahne » Sun Sep 08, 2013 8:00 pm

A few members of the Dutch Tamaskan Club took part in a Dog Survival yesterday. Together with your dog, you had to run/walk a 5km long trail. On that trail there were a total of 15 obstacles, that needed to be taken by owner and dog. We had 3 Tamaskan (Konah, Aydin & Daya) in the team, and several other dogs. They all did great! Here's a 'walk-trough' of the day, beautiful photo's were taken by Maayke Klaver :)

Excited to begin!:

Climbing in a rope:

Crossing the rope bridge:

Crawling trough the tunnel:

Crawling under a bridge (not advisable for owners or dogs with claustrophobia :P)

Some more crawling, this time under a canvas:

Climbing up a large construction:

And going down on the other side:

Wait... shouldn't this be the other way around?
Image

Jumping up and down several pellets:

Climbing up a long floating platform (at the end we had to jump in the water and do some fishing lol):

Rafting!

And some swimming too:

Wheelbarrow racing haha:

Crawling again:

Ahh, the end:

Now it's time for a nap ;)

Great pictures - it looks like it was a lot of fun! :D
Was it as charity / sponsored event? Why was it organized (and by who)?
It's a good idea, but somewhat unusual. :)

That looks awesome!

And the dogs seem so cooperative... I'm jealous :D

There’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.
The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.

The wolf that wins? The one you feed!

Looks like SO much fun! Here we have a mud run that's kinda like that but no rafting. Obstacles through a 5km course in mud...Wylie would have loved it but maybe next year. I wish we had this ^ here though.

Yeah a lot of fun!!!!
Over 250 participants with their human

It is a kind of agility / canocross match but then then the more outdoor and in the field mix version.
(Not charity or sponsored, we did pay (20 euro  ) to get a spot in the match)

That's true... wish there were similar events here in Croatia. There is a Search & Rescue course here in Zagreb that involves some of those features, but it is a whole 8 week course (not just one day) and it is more serious - not just a 'fun' event to have a good time.

Wow, 250 participants!! That is a great turnout!! :D :D
Even if we did have something like this here in Croatia, we'd be lucky if 30 people showed up... hahaha

Maybe I'll have to organize an event like this one day... it would entail a lot of work and preparation, but it would be really cool. :)
