ARBA / KC Show Results: 5 Oct 2013

Post by Hawthorne » Sun Oct 06, 2013 9:08 pm

Hello!
A very special thank you to everyone who attended the American Rare Breed / Kennel Club show in New Jersey yesterday:

Teresa Cutler & Dylan
Dottie Brown & Max
Mark Firley & Kona
and my family:
Ben, Chayce, Freyja, Darwin & Raven :)

Once I figure out what all the ribbons are, we'll post results. Here is the rundown for what happened:

ARBA was trying out a new system where there are three judges in the ring at the same time: so it's like doing three shows simultaneously. All dogs entered in yesterday's show entered in 12 shows total: 6 ARBA and 6 KC shows. KC judges filled out scorecards and we received those back. Twelve shows in one day was a lot--but I could see where it is worth it because entrants have the ability to earn their International Championship in one weekend! Holy cow!

So each group went into the ring and was judged by three judges, at the end was the competition for Winners Dog & Bitch then for Best In Show. THEN we started all over with three new judges. Wow!

We may have a special announcement at the end of the week regarding this show. *Insert suspenseful music...*

I know...still waiting to hear myself...
I don't want to be a pest and email the organization...I think we ought to wait until Monday.

I have so many questions! I know you asked them about the standard ;) what did they say? how did your dogs do (if I may ask)? or is this all apart of the surprise we are waiting for?

We're still waiting to hear.
The standard needs rewritten and a committee is working on that.
Some show results are listed above. My three dogs ribbons were all mixed up. I know some of who's is who's--but in general it was hard not having a spare set of hands.
Anyhow...I'm hoping to hear *something* soon... :/

There was some additional information required for our database submission to ARBA. Since this was recently completed, ARBA and KC USA have released all registration certificates and champion certificates (for those who earned and paid for them) to each dog owner. I have checked with those who I knew registered their dogs and they all received their paperwork yesterday in the mail. If you have registered your TDR Tamaskan Dog and have not received your paperwork yet, please let me know and I will address this with ARBA directly.

AND, I have to admit I made a mistake about our championships earned. I thought that because my step son showed Darwin that he had earned the "Junior Championship" but I was wrong. Sorry about the error, I have deleted all posts regarding this, I think. What happened was, we weren't even aware we had earned our championships at the time of the show. But in late November I received an offer to purchase three championship certificates, one of which said "junior" but with no dog names attached. I bought all three, thinking it would make a nice gift for my step-son.

We knew Raven didn't win any championship because she had a bad day: she kept sitting for the judge. LOL Poor girl had a bad experience in our conformation class and didn't want to cooperate the day of the show. Not to mention it was 80+ degrees that day. Ugh! I completely melted in a black pant suit.

BUT Freyja earned three championships! She earned her American Rare Breed Association Junior Championship, her Kennel Club USA Championship, and her Kennel Club USA Junior Championship. Wow! She worked very hard that day and certainly gave me her all. She is truly an amazing dog and I am so sad now that she won't qualify for future shows because she is now spayed.

So, now we get to brag a little and list Freyja as the following: ARBA Jr. CH & KCUSA CH Tarheel Ocracoke Treasure at Hawthorne. Congrats baby girl, we love you!
