Plenty of prizes to be had as in previous years. All will be welcome Tamaskan, crossbreeds/other purebreds, and of course our Malamute and Siberians, so come on all of you make it the best show yet. Sorry didnt notice but it is the only weekend in May that we can arrange it as our calendar is full of Championship Shows and end of May is usually warm and dry ;) On a brighter note we have news that there may/will ;) be a group of Europeans coming over with their dogs to our show, now that would be great and a good chance for all of us in UK to meet up with them and their dogs. :D

CHANGE OF DATE FOR THE ANNUAL TAMASKAN SHOW OF GREAT BRITAIN

Post by Blustag » Sun Oct 31, 2010 12:56 pm

Rahne wrote:If Konah passes her blood testing this time I will try to come! :D
That would be nice if you could. :)

Following our recent committee meeting it was decided to change the date for our May show. It will now be held on Saturday 21st May 2011. The original dates were over the Bank Holiday and we felt that this may interfere with some people wishing to attend. As usual it will be a weekend event spilling over to the Sunday 22nd although the actual show will only be on the Saturday for those who cant camp over. Please check your diaries and put our new dates in. Plenty of space for parking and camping. As previously mentioned it will be held in Lincolnshire. email for further details.

OK ! Anothers questions :
Can you explain to me exactly where is going to take place the show?
- An address specifies?

- If it is a meeting with a competition (as that Germany last July) or a meeting to discuss simply

- There is a form of inscription to be filled (for the organization of the number of present dogs) ?

- Dogs are authorized on the Ferry? Or needs it to take, necessarily, the Channel Tunnel?

Thank you

We do not give the address out on the forum, I will email it to you. (we need to know how many people to expect and the only way to find this out for certain is to see how many people ask us for the address)

It is a competition and a meeting, just like in Germany.

The form is filled out when you arrive (next year this will change).

Your dog must have a pets passport if coming from abroad, you must speak to your vet about this. rabies, tick and flea treatment must be complete and a blood test to make sure your dog is free from rabies must have been done 6 months prior to you leaving.

Dogs can go on the ferry but they must be left in the car alone. The channel tunnel is quicker and you can wait with your dog in the car, this is our preferred way to travel as it is less stressful for the dog.

Apparently only guide dogs (of blind persons) are allowed in the train, or then the dogs of trés small size, who can be put in a basket, put on knees!

I discussed it with Mas Khann : he indeed wants to be on my knees, but absolutely not in a basket !
Pfft !! What a capricious dog

LOL

I think, if you take your car on the train (which goes through the Channel Tunnel) then you can sit in the car with Mas'Khann. If you don't take your car on the train (but go by foot passenger instead) then only small dogs are allowed (or guide dogs) - so the best solution is to take your car. ;)

Yes you can carry all your dogs in your car in the train and you stay in your car for the whole of the journey.

As our show is coming up fast and we will start to organise very soon. Is there anyone coming along who would like to help out on the day. Lots of little jobs will need doing and any help would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you can assist us in making the day go without any hitches. ;)

ARRANGEMENTS.

For those coming who still dont know where it is being held please contact me.

There will be a sign at the bottom of the driveway to direct traffic. Would all those camping please arrive on the Friday anytime after 1pm. Gate will be closed at midnight. On the Saturday grounds open to the public at 11am. Would all daytime visitors please drive down towards the farm gate and then start parking on the grass verge either side of the tarmac where there is space. There is probably enough space both sides of the tarmac for around 40 plus cars.

There will be an entrance fee at the gate. There will also be a donation bucket and raffle tickets and quiz sheets available there. Please support our causes by purchasing food, drinks etc. etc. Proceeds go to Tamaskan Rescue and club funds to enable us to run these shows annually. Next year of course we have the BIG ONE... 10th Anniversay which will be held at a public venue which will be expensive. The venue to be announced soon.

REFRESHMENTS

Food and drinks will be on sale throughout the Saturday please support us.

CAMPERS

There will be a BBQ on the Friday evening. Please bring your own food for the bbq and any alcohol drinks you may need.

On the Saturday evening we will be organising an Indian and Chinese meal/banquet. This to be paid for by campers themselves.

Campers may leave anytime after the show on the Saturday or stay until the Sunday afternoon. Once on the ground you will not be able to get out until everyone has removed their cars all the way up the driveway. Likewise you wont be able to get in if you turn up on the Saturday and people have started parking.

More details to follow:

Organisation now well under way with tents erected ready for occupancy.
Would people camping please bring their own sleeping bags, blankets and pillows as we just wont have enough to go around :D For the BBQ on the Friday evening instead of bringing your own food I am taking a trip into town to the store so can purchase anything necessary then so that its fresh. We will be sitting outside around a campfire in the evening so dont forget to bring warm clothes for the night air ;) Anyone got a guitar and can sing

CAMPING IN TENTS.

Just to let those of you know who will be in tents. We will have an 'open' campervan for your use. There is a fridge, full size oven with grill, washroom for shaving/washing etc. In other words full kitchen. There will also be an awning attached to it which can hold a lot of people so we will be putting up a table and chairs in there so all of you can use these facilities for doing your breakfast, lunch or whatever. There will also be two toilets on site for everyone's use. If you wish to bring your own food for the mornings or evenings then please feel free. Throughout the day food will be on sale. DONT forget.... bring your own alcohol ...

I used to go hiking with my border collie and my friend who also had a border collie back when I was a teenager. We would camp over by the beach and of course dogs being dogs they would be in and out of the water and covered in sand, it was well annoying in your sleeping bag, so eventually we bought the dogs their own tent and never had to sleep next to wet dog again.....ahhh

Uhm, sorry to be one of those awkward ones, but will there be any vegetarian options of food to buy on the Saturday?
Just need to know if I should bring something to eat, or if I will be able to have something there. ;)

Also, I was wondering if maybe people are interested in wearing little name tags? Lol.
I don't know what everyone looks like, and it would be nice to see who's who?
This is what we have done when I have met people from other forums.
I completely understand if the rest of you aren't interested in such sillyness though. ;)

ALL VISITORS

We are erecting a small sign to the show outside the churchyard as you come up the lane. Please dont rely on your GPS/Sat Navs system as they will only take you to the churchyard. Once there bear left and then bear right following the signs. Stay on that road until you reach us on the righthandside. DO NOT attempt to go down the dead end road like a lot of people have in the past   Our gateway to the farm will be well identifiable ;)

Most of the committee have badges which says committee (but not all, some people lost theirs.......you know who you are!!)
Yay for veggie burgers! Too bad I'm in boring old Canada =(

I've just finalised stop-over details so we'll be there on Saturday after all. :D
Driving halfway up Fri night, on to show for 11am and driving halfway back Sat night. Shame we can't stop for the Sunday too but there's a family birthday.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.
