I'm honestly not quite sure how much it affects the nutritional value, but I don't think home cooking it impacts it in the same way a pet food manufacturer cooking it would. If you want to keep it raw, you may be able to mask the taste by soaking it in something like low sodium chicken stock. Or stick with the chicken liver.

I tried feeding liver and other organs frozen and cut into little cubes. Our pup loves it like that so no cooking is needed. It seems like the consistency is what throws him off. It's good to see him getting his vitamins.

awesome! I hope you get to enjoy some of the rest of the salmon (the body, not the head)... :D
our dogs love raw fish but we normally give it to them (frozen) in the summer when the weather is really hot (like a fish-popsicle) ;)

Do you get wild caught or farm raised salmon? There are problems with both. In fact, I won't feed Freyja any fish 6 months prior to breeding her. Just to be on the safe side.

i found srdele to be the best thing, you can give them whole, no risk of sharp bones and they come very fresh from Adriatic sea, even in Zagreb :D

looks like a great menu for a dog, though I can't imagine how he must have looked while eating the turkey head / neck... LOL

Nice! I have dreams about meal times being as organized as yours, Balto. We do a lot of guesstimate weighing at our house.

I wonder will those fish heads and chicken limbs be enough to sate the hunger of a coyote pup or wolf, especially since I plan to raise both in the distant future for my project. I know for a fact that Snoopy would definitely go crazy if he sees those though. He's brought home dead rodents and leaped for live perch fish in streams before.

Katlin, check out Craigslist or sites like Kijiji. Sometimes people will post if their freezer dies and they have some meat that they just need to get rid for free. Also, if there's hunters in your area, they usually need to clean out their deep freeze to make room for more game when hunting season starts up. Another great CHEAP resource that we've found recently is a landfill diversion program, where someone picks up meat from grocery stores (either recently expired, about to expire, or someone brought it to the checkout counter and they can't resell). The lady that we know who does this gets all of the meat and keeps huge freezers stocked. She can't legally resell the meat, but asks for a donation of like $7/bag. Maybe there's something like that in your area?
