Re: Tamaskan in AZ or MT?

I didnt see any Charlies :( I am all about good food places :)

Even my beauceron wears marking gear whenever he is off leash. Its just safer all the way around I feel.

I got an A- on my American Military History mid-term :) so far that is my easiest class :)

Helps being a military wife.

Re: Tamaskan in AZ or MT?

I am in Bozeman currently:) I loved kalispell. I would probably be right up there with you of owning a few. My son is getting his Autism Assistance dog on Monday (husky) and I am so nervous about bringing a 1 yr old pup and my 6 yr old Beauceron who has been an only dog together. I know its all me (...

Tamaskan as an Assistance Dog, Thoughts?

What are your thoughts about a Tamaskan as an Assistance Dog? Do you think they can handle the training and obedience levels? I know about the Tamaskan, Wave, I think it is that is the school mascot, so they can handle life on campus easily which is much crazier than my school life. But doing tasks ...

Re: Off-Lead

I would be carful with Garlic it isnt good for dogs... but I may make some this without the garlic as I find it helps if I switch up the types of meats I use. there is lots of debates to garlic. But I have used it for many years without problems. I also do not use a ton. we are talking small amount...

Re: Off-Lead

I would love to hear the updates of how the off-leash training is going. Also, I thought I would share my recipe for beef & chicken liver (which you can just buy in meat section of your grocery too). boil the meat in water and garlic powder for about 15/20 mins) place fairly thin strips on cookie sh...

Re: How did YOU discover the Tamaskan breed?

I find with my dogs having to do so much for me with the hearing alerts and mobility help (basically the dog helps me walk and I dont look like a drunk :D ) In the past I was in a wheelchair and my dog pulled it. I also have the dog retrieve, open/close doors, turn on/off lights and get help (find a...

Tamaskan in AZ or MT?

Are there any Tamaskans in Arizona or Montana? I live in MT, but will be driving to Arizona in June (yucky I know) to visit family and would love an opportunity to meet a Tam if possible. We do drive through UT, but we try drive straight through to avoid hotel costs.

Thanks :)

Re: How did YOU discover the Tamaskan breed?

Yes, I am just beginning my search to see if this breed might work for me. Then I will be contacting breeders either in the US or abroad. My current dog is an import. I am partial to having good dogs that work. With certain breeds I do feel that Americans have screwed up and you have to be extremely...

Re: Height?

I think this is a really interesting discussion. I know my other dogs have continued to grow until they are older. My beauceron even grew until he was 5. He finished mostly at 3, but then had another growth spurt again at 5. I measured him when he was doing dog shows and he was at 26" at 18 months. ...

I should have said Assistance dog as I forget the cultural differences. I had a Belgian Malinois years back as well and he was just awesome, yeah you cant get better working dogs ;)

Re: How did YOU discover the Tamaskan breed?

I found out about the breed while on a service dog group while discussing what breeds were ideal for service dogs. I had mentioned that I was looking at NAID, huskies and GSDs. She had suggested I take a look at the Tamaskan. So here I am. I am in the early stages of my research.
