Re: Tamaskans In Australia?
No problem! I believe there are plans for a near-future litter between Oslo (Sylvaen Ethereal Shard) and Mysti (Outback Vulkan). It will be a nice combination!

Re: Tamaskans In Australia?
Welcome! As far as I am aware, Outback is planning a Tamaskan X Tamaskan litter in the near future. With regard to importing, puppies must have 0% wolf content so finding a suitable Tamaskan litter to import a puppy can be a little challenging, plus the overall costs are quite high due to the import...

Re: Indoor? Ever?
Congrats on your new additions! It really depends a lot on the individual dog(s) - some just prefer being outside - but also on how they were raised. Since they are now 12 weeks old (they were living at the breeder this whole time?) it's possible that they were housed in an outdoor enclosure / indoo...

It is critical to conduct extensive research before working with any breeder, particularly in contentious societies like as the Tamaskan breed. Absolutely! Saxon Tamaskan, known for their emphasis on breeding excellence and avoidance of breed politics, could be worth investigating. Magic Eight Ball...

Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear about the cancer diagnoses... but it's wonderful that chemotherapy worked for her and that she's still going strong at 13.5 years old. Hi Mandy, At this time, I don't have any puppies currently available as we only have a couple of litters per year, usually spread out in the summer and winter months. I think bamboo rice is just a filler material, much like regular rice, or sweet potato, etc... it's fine to mix into the food now or then, or in small quantities, but it shouldn't form a main portion of the daily diet.

Heya! Some Tamaskan owners have regular meet-ups in their local area, and some national clubs have annual meet-ups at certain locations every year. However, as there are no breeders in Alabama, your closest meet-up would probably be in Texas, which would be quite a drive...

Is it going to be possible to get a tamaskan stud on my dog? Or is she a mutt and too bad so sad? Not without health testing. THAT is first and foremost. Has she been health tested? The minimum requirements to qualify for breeding are: hip / elbow x-rays + evaluation, cardiac exam, eye exam, and DNA testing for MDR1 + DM (ideally Embark or MyDogDNA panel test). Without health testing, it's just irresponsible breeding... regardless of pedigree, or lac...

Welcome to the forum! Tamaskan Dogs are somewhat more stubborn and independent compared to border collies, but they are equally intelligent and fast learners. However, they are easier to train than huskies or malamutes, and usually have better recall too! You can see more info here: www.sylvaen.com/...

In terms of temperament/character, Tamaskan Dogs are somewhat in the middle between a German Shepherd and a Siberian Husky. Meanwhile, a mix of those 2 breeds could behave more like one breed, or the other, or have some traits of both... it's a bit of a gamble since it is a first-generation cross, v...

Hey all, I'm not sure where to put this, but I just found out that a puppy mill called Tegha Kennel in India (most Kennels are puppy mills here) is claiming to sell Tamaskan puppies here. During our dog outings with various groups, we do note that she has a slight fear of cowboys/cowgirls, mainly an issue with hats casting a shadow on a person's face as they approach her. We are working on that one. Hmmm that's interesting... one other pup has a fear of people wearing baseball caps....

Re: Low Confidence? Fearfulness? Nervy?
It depends a lot on the bloodline, as well as the specific combination. Litters that are higher in wolf content (over 20%) will potentially be more fearful and/or have more primitive/instinctual reactions to certain situations. Furthermore, within a single litter there can be quite a variety of temp...

Somehow I missed this original thread... I agree with the others that it is better to wait. Ideally, around 18-24 months old is a good age to sterilize as that's when the growth plates are closed and the dog is fully mature / properly developed. Since she is lacking confidence, which is relatively c...
