Re: Tamaskan Database?

To clear up some confusion... the database currently listed at: www.tamaskan-database.com is the one that was originally on the TDR website. At the time I was TDR secretary and maintained the TDR website. At some point I left the TDR and moved the database over to an independent domain because I wa...

Tamaskan Database?

Hi all, haven't been here for a while. I remember there used to be a very cool database on the TDR website where you can see the ancestry of any registered dog. What happened to it? Now it just says coming 2017. Thanks.

Ramsey says hello!

Re: Aggression toward dogs - what to do?

This is a very quick reprise of a technique I've found useful: Canine Engage Disengage Game.jpg The point is that almost any dog can become sensitized to other animals, some more than others. Kona's problem playmates are few and far between, and while he's not an aggressor, he is big enough to be a...

Re: Aggression toward dogs - what to do?

It's so discouraging to see eh? A lovely, beautiful dog, your best friend, is suddenly a complete monster to other dogs. I shed a few tears over it and was getting pretty desperate. Best thing you can do is try and make as many good experiences as possible. We had a few dogs were Wylie just wouldn't...

Re: Aggression toward dogs - what to do?

Same thing happened to Wylie, it was out of the blue and I was convinced that if I let it go to far he'd actually hurt a dog. He did exactly what you describe, looming over them and pinning them. My solution was to take him to the daycare at my work, but only for 30 minutes at a time. He was awful ...

Re: Aggression toward dogs - what to do?

Thanks! That definitely makes a lot of sense, and yes playdates would definitely be an option. There are several dogs in the neighborhood that Ramsey plays ever since he was a puppy, and he's always very friendly toward those dogs. So, if I understand you correctly, you are suggesting that this is j...

Aggression toward dogs - what to do?

For last couple month Ramsey has been showing aggression toward some dogs. This is a COMPLETELY new behavior - just three months ago he was known to be the dog park sweetheart. I was also told that this could well be an ago thing (he's 20 month old now). From our observation, this is usually how it ...

Document...?

Hey all, not quite sure where to direct this question, so I figure I'd post it here. apology if this is not the right place. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Back when I got Ramsey from Saxon last year, I think Pete told me that I would receive some kind of document from TDR as a proof of ...

Re: Getting better with dogs

So Wylie has been very picky about who he likes to play with. Lately if any dog shows any signs of submission Wylie will take full advantage and stand over them, growling..... I was amazed that as soon as I stepped back, away from Wylie and let him do his thing, the dogs figured it out themselves! ...

New York Times article on Tuffy

Came across this today. Thought it would be of interest! I live very close to Raleigh. When people ask me what breed Ramsey is, I just tell them he's related to Tuffy! http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/05/sports/ncaafootball/north-carolina-state-seeking-a-wolf-mascot-settles-for-tuffy-the-dog.html?smid...

Yeah, I don't think he's particularly stressed. I think he just started doing it couple weeks ago, and there hasn't been any changes. I managed to catch him in the act.

Burying poop with nose... This is new to me!

So a new addition to Ramsey's ever growing repertoire of funny behaviors.... burying poop with his nose! As far as I know he only buries his own poop. I tried to research on it and, while it is relatively common to bury poop, I can't find many instances of using one's nose to do it. And one person s...

Hi packrat56

I am owner of one of the imported Saxon pups. Obviously Pete has all the answers as far as what the process is like, but if you want to know what it's like on this end feel free the message me.

Fantastic pup, though he definitely gave all of us plenty of work. :)
