Re: Balto´s adventures
This is probably a silly question - is he a Malamute or a Sibe? His ears shout Sibe to me, but he looks very stout and stocky. Very handsome! <3

Re: Nami, the Kishu Ken
Very cute! Her structure, head and ear shape remind me of another primitive breed called New Guinea Singing Dogs, though it looks like the Kishu Ken is a bit larger :) Really cool breed! It's funny - Nami is about the same size as a NGSD and often gets mistaken for one. By "often", I mean, I am SUR...

Nami, the Kishu Ken
Nami is my 3 year female Kishu Ken. The most common Kishu color is white (recessive red) and all Kishu who are not white are called "yushoku" (with color). Nami's specific color is called sesame (or black sesame, to some). She is one of four of her color to be exported from Japan. There are 3 sesame...

Re: TK, the Shikoku Ken
I guess, a bit more on the temperament/TK's personality... They definitely aren't a terribly obedient dog if they have no bond or expectations with/of the person telling them what to do. TK is very fear-based, though, and all of his anxiety and aggression comes from that fear, so it might be easier ...

Re: Future Head Shape...?
I really like the look of Shikokus, they have awesome colors and build, I was tempted by one, but they are a bit too small for what I wanted :) A lot of people fall in love with how Shikoku look and out of love once they actually meed a Shikoku, lol. They sure LOOK nice though. Hunting line Shikoku...

Re: CJ from Providence!
Thank you, everyone!
I've started TK's thread in the Other Pets since it looked like there was some interest around the board in Shikoku Ken. I'll post the others up later so I'm not spamming the board with my dogs.

TK, the Shikoku Ken
Since I found a couple threads mentioning Shikoku Ken, I thought I might start my boy's thread first of all my dogs. TK is an 8 year old Shikoku Ken from O'Ikon Nihon Ken in Ohio. I am his second owner and I got him in February of 2013. His color is referred to as "black sesame" (or kurogoma). He is...

Re: Future Head Shape...?
I find that people feel that the Shikoku head shape (though it varies some) is fairly wolf-like. I think it looks plastic and fake, but that's just because I know what Shikoku USED to look like prior to intense selection and pruning. The head shape wasn't really intended to look wolf-like, but was t...

CJ from Providence!
Hello! I'm CJ in Providence, RI. I've been interested in the Tamaskan on and off, but I don't know very much about them except for what's on paper! After having the forum pop up a few times on Google, I figured I'd join and say hello! I am currently studying Psychology and Anthropology and I am inte...
