Re: Tomaskan vs German Shepherd Husky Mix
I have two Tamaskans, a husky mix, and a Tamaskan mix. Tamaskan 1 - An adult female of no wolf content and very heavy (68.3%) GSD. She runs zoomies like a husky and is just as goofie, but she has the focus and desire to lean and please of most GSDs. She is very calm on the leash and can even be walk...

Re: Is there a low calorie wet dog food?
Have you considered making your own wet topping? I had a senior dog once that needed a little gravy or a few scoops of wet food mixed in to the dry food before he would eat. I use to make him two types of gravy, a thick one and a more watered down one. For fewer calories, you can try boiling up some...

Re: Low Confidence? Fearfulness? Nervy?
As Sylvaen mentioned, it depends on lines and individual dogs. It is best to talk to the breeder. Only have one adult Tamaskan Dog, and she was from a White Swiss Shepherd outcross litter and has no detectable (Embark) wolf content. I have found her to be very focused and trainable. She is easy off ...

Re: Tams and Titles
Hello, I competed in shows with my Tamaskan. I wanted to get feedback from several judhes on her structure. Since we can't show in AKC shows and ARBA doesn't have shows in Texas, I worked with others to get our breed accepted to show with ICE Dog Shows, IABCA, and ICKC. We showed at all three the fi...

Re: Tamaskan Dogs. Wolf in them or not?
The Sylvaen Tamaskan breeder's website has a very detailed history on the breed and on the wolf content. It might be a good read, and there are several posts (and FB pages) devoted to this topic. In short, the Tamaskan Dog was originally meant to be a look alike breed, but some of the foundation dog...

I'm sorry to hear the diagnosis, but I'm glad you did find an answer to the issues. If you are not already a member, I'd suggest looking at joining the Facebook group "American Tamaskans" and asking there. It is a group solely for owners of puppymill pups. I myself have a Ratliff pup that ...

Hello, I have a Tamaskan Dog, two husky mixes, and run a local northern breed meetup group. It is possible to have a husky off lead, but it takes a lot of consistent training. My good friend has two that are almost always off lead and never leave his side. My Tamaskan and female husky mix are wonder...

Re: Ideal conditions
Hi, Stairs, jumping, and hard.long running should be limited during the puppy's growth stages. Too much too soon can cause environmental impacts on the proper growth plate closures occurring during development. It can lead to things like hip dysplasia in later years. A good puppy exercise chart guid...

Thank you for the update. I'm glad to hear about the growth and organizational planning to help keep things moving in the right direction.

Re: Timber Ridge Tamaskan, Puppy Mill?
Thank you for reaching out for more information and contacting Reddit. If they are breeding dogs from Ratliff, they won't be actual Tamaskan dogs and have a high chance of having expensive health issues. All Ratliff's breeding girls are daughters from two of the females he got from Kevin.

Hi, Pete from Denmark. Welcome to the International Tamaskan Forum. I've provided some useful links below. Hi. Yes. It is my understanding that the TDR website is undergoing some changes and will have some more revisions made to it over the next month or two. The link from the website to the database will hopefully be restored once everything is completed. You can search the database here: http://www.tam...

Re: Waist belt leash (hands-free)
Hi. I bought a waist belt and leashes from Polardog Outfitters (a fellow Tamaskan owner). I love using when I can, especially to be hands free, or hands free with two of my three dogs (one is a puller). I haven't found one that will allow three leashes and spin to untangle if they cross each other a...

I have them free in the back when I don't have my custom crate (holds 3) inside. A big part of the decision will be the vehicle size to know how big a crate can be and not interfere with other areas in the car. I have one dog that prefers to ride in a crate and 2 that prefer to be harnessed and buck...

He kept breeding past when he said he would. Most, if not all, his current dogs are daughters of those ...

River - San Antonio's Tamaskan "Otter" Dog
Hi, I'm not sure I ever got around to introducing my River (avatar photo). She turned 1 year old on November 10, 2016. She is from the Sylvean Tamaskan's White Swiss Shepherd outcross litter (Zente x Vega). She loves to run and be chased by other dogs, and she loves to cuddle with me on the couch. S...
