Apologies for opening an old topic, I seem to remember seeing somewhere a guide on Phenotyping and just s wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of it, or am I just hallucinating?
If you feed the dogs individually or can separate them another thing to ty is scatter feeding, get rid of the bowl altogether and scatter the food on the floor. This slows down the eating and makes the process more hardwork for the dog.
I paid deposits for both my tam girls and was very surprised that no deposit was required when purchasing my pedigree maremma sheepdog. I paid the full amount in cash the day I picked him up, the breeder said she wouldn't take any money until I was sure I wanted a pup from that litter and I had chos...
This dog is in a pound local to me and looking for a home https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/314156_532837593400364_554478406_n.jpg Swindon's Needy Dogs (SNDogs) she is a stray so currently we do not know anything about her. she is still in her 7 days - if not claimed will then b...
Not sure if this counts, I originally posted it a couple of years ago, but have not managed to film it since! My husband thought it would be very clever to try and teach Elska to howl! And even more cleverly he thought he would video it! He is making most of the noise at the start until she gets the...
I have done Rally with both my Tams, they both really enjoyed it! Although I have to admit that sometimes I found it hard to remember what all the actual signs meant!
it is 150$ I have just done one and handled the paper work today.. Well, thats one down. Got my answere today, and no wolf content in Bow (Dame: Heidi@Blustag, Sire: Jackal@Blustag, same as Sølve). I no longer need my lawyer on speed dial. Phu... That's great news! How old is Bow? I don't know if s...
Elska will be 3 in October, although she has never been a particularly fussy eater, I have struggled with keeping weight on her. I had try just increasing her food but that just resulted in upsetting her tummy. I have overheard many hurtful comments about how thin she is in the past. I now feed her ...
Thank you all for your input. At the same time, I don't want to see these comments dissolve into nastiness and a hate campaign / witch hunt aimed at any one particular individual - this is not the time or the place, but I will address it (and the solutions) in my upcoming list of proposals. We need...
I would never have let my dogs go anywhere if there was a danger they could hurt themselves, this was a freak accident, but thought I would share it just to make others aware.
Some of you may be aware that each year I take part in the Race for Life and for the past 3 years my girls have walked with me. As Elska is feeling under the weather (due to having a grass seed removed from her eye last night) I left the girls at home and took my little man as my companion today! He...
Just a quick reminder to be very careful to check your dog over when running in long grass, firstly always best to check if any ticks have been picked up, but also please be aware how nasty grass seeds can be. Yesterday evening I had to take Elska to the vets to get a barbed grass seed removed from ...
I have 2 tams, they are 3.5 and 2.5 yrs old, they have both been to dog training from 11 weeks old. They both have excellent recall, it takes time, patience and consistency. If you put the work in you generally reap the rewards. I think it does help that they are very food orientated. I have two com...
I was recently sent this, not sure if it works, but I would certainly try it. Tick Removal A nurse discovered a safe, easy way to remove ticks where they automatically withdraw themselves when you follow her simple instructions. Read this one as it could save you from some major problems. Spring is ...
Does that mean that you have to vacate the facilities by 8am or everyone be completely off site by 8am? Better make sure that not too much drinking goes on the night before if so!
The Maremma Sheepdog is a rare working breed originating in Central Italy. There, in the High Appenines and plains of the Abruzzi region, the Maremma has been bred for some two thousand years. His sole function during this time was to guard the flocks and property of the shepherd; first from wolves ...
We haven't qualified for Crufts, as I have only shown him in 3 open shows so far. However, we are at Birmingham, Southern Counties and Bath champ shows, so with a bit of luck we might qualify!
Here are some recent photo's of Monza, showing off his rosettes!
Thank you, yes we have started showing him! He has been to 3 shows and has managed to win Best AVNSC Pastoral Puppy at all of them, he also got Reserve Best Dog at our breed show!! Next one is the Birmingham Champ Show!!
Wow, he is so big already! Nice! What do you think he would be weighing if he is all grown up? Your wolves are lucky, they have their own polar bear!  I had him weighed yesterday, he was 38.5kg. I think he will be about 45-50kg when he is fully grown! I do get some funny look...
We have the 10th anniversary Tamaskan show being held in May, you would be able to meet loads of Tamaskan and plenty of owners who will be more than happy to talk for hours about the breed!
