Kumho always smells because if there's stagnant water around, he will find it and jump in it. >> Don't know if coconut oil is going to help with that. xD

Re: Siberian Husky, Fit For Function or Not?
I think that's what's confusing to people. Just because a dog is structurally and functionally able to do work, doesn't mean it's going to want to do it. Not every healthy Labrador becomes a seeing eye dog. Not every healthy German Shepherd becomes a police dog. Not because they physically can't do ...

Told you most of this already, but will repost it here to keep things centralized. Kumho (J&J Moon River) is from the 2011 fall litter, so he'll be 3 years old in a couple of months. We're (Lori and Denver) located in Ravena, NY, which is about 20 miles south of Albany. You can probably find a few m...

We have Kumho, who is another brother to your guys from a previous Ruby and Jethro litter. I believe at around 8 weeks he weighed about 12 lbs. He was taken to the vet by the lady that picked him up, but returned him after about a week after realizing how much work a puppy was. So he became ou...

Like most people, we have a towel hanging up in the bathroom. Kumho has decided that it shouldn't be hanging up and always pulls it down, sometimes dragging it out into the hallway. The two of us are in a constant battle of determining where the towel should be. He does it with the dishtowel too if ...

Re: older dog, new found sense of play
We adopted a rescue dog about a month ago to give Kumho some company. She's just over 4 years old and has no problem holding her own when it comes to roughhousing. She's even executed some very nice takedowns a wrestler would be proud of.
Re: Shedding
Kumho tolerates being brushed but I wouldn't say he's crazy about it. He will try to eat the hairballs though. And they don't even have to be his.

He also told another owner that he was going to retire Ivy and Willow because of their failing hip scores, but obviously hasn't. He seems to take better care of his dogs than RPK does, but still doesn't follow good breeding practices. I'd try and get the deposit back and find another breeder.

Welcome! Having a people oriented dog might help with recall. Our Tam will take or leave most other animals but I have yet to see a person he doesn't want to meet and get attention from. He has close to perfect recall and will stop mid-animalchase if you call him. The breed seems to fall on both end...

It sounds like it would highly depend on the individual personality of the Tamaskan. There are ones that can do the things you listed, and others that can't. Like, for example, ours is walked off leash all the time and I know I can call him off of chasing a cat or squirrel or whatever with confidenc...
