Re: Chronic diarrhoea
My boy Loki had runny stools for his first year or so. In that time period, I tested with different kinds of kibble and finally settled on Blue Buffalo (Chicken and Brown Rice). This kibble seemed to stiffen up his stool a bit but he still has the occasional bout of loose stool. I hope this clears u...
Re: Vomiting
The X-rays came up negative and the vet thinks that the vomiting was caused by indigestion. He gave me some pills to give to Loki and everything seems to be okay now. Thanks for all of the responses!
Re: Vomiting
It started about a week ago, and yes, I am in the process of changing his food from the puppy formula to adult. He's at the vet right now getting X-Rays. The vet thought that there might be something lodged in his stomach. I hope he's wrong. I'll find out the results after work today.
Re: Vomiting
He does inhale his food, and its been this way since I first brought him home. Also, he doesn't throw up right after eating, its usually a few hours or more after eating that he will throw up. I made an appointment with the vet for tomorrow morning, so I'll see what he says about it. Thanks for the ...
Re: Vomiting
I was planning to bring him to the vet this weekend if this is something i should be concerned about. I am feeding him Blue Buffalo (Chicken and Brown Rice).
Vomiting
Hello everyone, My boy Loki (1.5 years old) is vomiting about 2-3 times per week. In the past, it used to just be clear liquid and grass(he loves to nibble on grass), but more recently, he is vomiting up a puddle of food(twice now since introducing the new kibble). I am in the process of switching h...

Great suggestion Arianwenarie! I took Loki to a quiet court around my neighborhood and Loki responded very well to my commands there! Although they are baby steps, we are making progress towards my ultimate goal. Thanks again!

Re: Barking at other dogs while on leash
As of today, I can get his attention when I'm training him in the backyard. Once we hit the streets for a walk, all bets are off. There are way too many distractions for me to get and hold his attention.
I have a feeling this may take a lot longer than I expect =P

Barking at other dogs while on leash
Hello everyone, My boy, Loki, just turned 1. Whenever I walk him (on lead), he goes crazy when he sees other dogs. He will bark, pull, and ignore anything that I try to calm him down. The weird thing is, when I take him to dog parks, he is totally fine around other dogs, which leads me to believe th...

Re: Loki (Susi X Jackal) Blustag Thunderbolt
Thanks for the handy tips! I probably won't start with Loki off leash with a bicycle since I don't trust him off leash yet. He gets easily excited by little things and am worried he might run off and do his own thing. I do try to work on him off-leash in enclosed areas, but don't full trust him yet....

I just witness my pup eat his own poop for the first time this evening. Should I be concerned? I was feeding him half ToTW High Prairie, half chicken and rice and recently switched to half ToTW, half ground beef and rice. Could it have been due to the slight food change?

Loki's bout of the squirts never lasts more than a day either. Re: Particular problem areas?
Alot is going to depend on how your pups reacts to either treats or praise. If I had the right treat inmy hand and Tundra knew what treat I had she would go through her whole regiment of tricks and learned commands to get the treat. I would not even have to say anything. Her thought process was if ...

At the moment, I don't use his crate for time-outs. I only use the crate for him to sleep in. He is such a good puppy that I don't want to traumatize him and have him hate the crate. He even waits for me to wake up before making a fuss to be let out (of course, that's if he doesn't need to go potty)...

Thanks for all the helpful replies. It was definitely not an aggressive growl that Loki did. It was more of a "I want to play nip your feet, but you wont let me" type of growl. I was just concerned that this will develop into him being aggressive when he grows up. As for the nipping, I tried to do t...

Ive been trying to teach my boy not to nip at peoples feet when he gets riled up, and today, while I was trying to do so by pushing him away and giving him a stern no, he gives back a little growl, a little charge and then runs back and continues to try and nip at my feet. Loki is such a habsome lad! In puppy pre-school, they showed us a technique to discourage play-biting. I don't know if it would help you, but it might be worth a try. It's very similar to what you already doing with the key difference being that we didn't release her when she squirmed, but only aft...
