Breeding Tika

A few months ago I had posted a topic on the US Tamaskan Dog Club facebook group about breeding my dog Tika (Blustag Golden Sunrise). There were mixed feelings but in the end I think everyone wanted to know what her testing results would be. We have the results from all of her tests except one. Here...

Re: UC Davis test results summary

If you read on UC Davis' website it talks about the 4 different ways they test for the wolf markers. So depending on how they detected the markers probably has something to do with how the results are shown (ie. maternal dog, paternal N/A)

Thank you. Oh she's pretty good usually lol. She decided to dig under the fence for the first time last week and escape the yard. Luckily we were home and saw her though. We had to reinforce the bottom of the fence. She's good once she gets used to a new situation, it usually only takes her a few mi...

That depends on where it's going to be. We're expecting our first kid in the spring so traveling too far with a baby and two dogs will be pretty tough. It would be great for them to get together though.

Re: UC Davis test results summary

I know not everyone believes this test to be 100% accurate. We had it done anyway since the wolf content in the Golden litter was believed to have come from a wolf from Alaska, which the test says it can pick up. Tika came back as dog, as in they couldn't find any recent wolf content. I know of one ...

I agree, although I'm not a TDR committee member in my opinion I think the pedigrees need to reflect the correct dam/sire. I don't think you should feel embarrassed, obviously you didn't know anything about this. This is embarrassing for the breed and steps need to be taken to deal with it but you c...

It would be really great if the foundation dogs could be tested. It could get expensive though so maybe we could set up some sort of online fund so we could all chip in a few dollars then there'd be no reason why the tests couldn't be done.

Lynn I think that sounds like a good way to test it. I do wish this test was more accurate too, however even human paternity test are only 99% accurate, so hoping for 100% accuracy may be too much. As far as I've seen, they don't use the word 'wolfdog' at all, which is rather odd considering it is n...

Re: How many Tamaskans get carsick?

Tika drools heavily every time we drive anywhere. If the ride is longer than 5-10 minutes she usually throws up. We take trips regularly, usually to a puppy class or the dog park so it's not like she's going somewhere unpleasant. It doesn't really help if our Lab is in the car and he loves car rides...

Tika has this. It looks like a yellowish mucous. The vet had her on antibiotics, which lessened it but it didn't clear up. We'll just have to wait till she comes in season.
