Re: Will there ever be a TDR Breeder in East-Asia?

I can only speak for Japan, but I can tell you that the Japanese people love their dogs. I am half Japanese and have family in Japan so I have been there many times. There are many breed enthusiates who have dedicated centuries to Akita, Japanese Chins, Shibas, etc. There are many other breeds that ...

Re: Feeding a Tam puppy, what approach do you take?

I agree with Sylvaen. It depends on the dog and the owner and what is available in your area. We have dogs with sensitive stomachs so it took us a while to find what works. We eventually ended us feeding Acana. I also know several people whose dogs has loose stool on this. Again, just depends on the...

Re: how much is too much?

Training should start right away. Things like the name game, sit, come when called can begin right away. Find a puppy class and you will be well on your way. As for excercise, moderation is best for this large slow developing breed. If you can find a group that is willing to work with you, I see no ...

Well. That's a lot of questions! I can answer some of these for you. I do believe in the end, only you can decide what is right for you. I had a Rottweiler and now have a lab. We also have two Tamaskans. So this is all I can compare for you. I have had some experience with Chesapeake Bay Retrievers....

Our little Luna girl has had some hip issues. She is the dog that came thru rescue and was bred by RPK. Our vet has suggested glucosamine along with good diet (make sure she doesn't get heavy). The glucosamine has helped. I would suggest giving it a try if you have not already.

PLEASE seek a professional behaviorist. This is not normal behavior for this breed or this age. Dogs at this age have not begun to go through the adolescence stage (approximately 9 - 18 months) which is similar to the teenage years in humans. During this time, many dogs go through a phase of challen...

Welcome to the forum. I wouldn't say these dogs have the same drive to work as the German Shepherd, Rottie or Border Collie. With that said, this breed is not like other Northern breeds.
