Re: Mowgli (J&J Sitting Bull)
Mowgli will be 17 weeks on Tuedsday. We've been taking him to puppy kindergarten classes for the past few weeks and he loves it! Our trainer makes a comment every week about how smart he is, and the humans in class (especially the wee ones) think he's just so purdy! We've only had a few people ask i...

Mowgli likes to pick up deer poop. I hardly notice when he does it on walks - the little sneak! He still gobbles down his food though.

I used to babysit a boy that had an obsession with gloves. He would ask all about the types of gloves I had. He and Winter would get along, I think!

When I was first researching Tams, I contacted RPK to ask some questions. Kevin had his daughter get in touch with me, and I was told that the process was deposit first, then ask questions. Didn't ask anything about me!!!

Re: Eating too fast
We usually use the first half of Mowgli's meals as treats for training, and then put the rest in the Kong wobbler. He LOVES the wobbler, and I love that it slows down his eating, makes him think a bit, and uses up some energy during meal times. http://www.amazon.com/Kong-Wobbler-Treat-Dispensing-Lar...

He's definitely tuckered out! Didn't mean to be out so long, but got turned around on the trail and had to take a few detours. We'll be sure to be more careful next time Thanks Rahne.

Thought I'd add some updated photos of Mowgli. He's growing so fast! At 12.5 weeks he is 27 lbs. We took him for a nice 2 hr hike today and he loved it! It was our first time taking him off lead, and he did great. He stayed close by for the most part, and came whenever we called him. We ran into a c...

Mowgli (J&J Sitting Bull)
Hello all! We brought home our brand new Tamaskan pup, Mowgli, this weekend, and it sure has been a busy few days! He did fairly well on the 8 hr drive home. Vomited 3 times, and snuggled the rest of the time. Lots of drooling at first, but that subsided. He's already gotten pretty used to his crate...

Re: What's in a name?
Haha, we also were inspired by Mr. Kipling: The word raksha in Sanskrit and Hindi means 'to protect' and raakshas means 'demon'. It is pronounced as Rak+sha. I think it expresses well the double nature of a wolfdog, who is part wolf (Eurasian), part dog (German Shepherd). And to top it off - as Rak...

Decided we're not going to try to tackle raw feeding to begin with, but instead feed Taste of the Wild. Those of you who feed TOTW, did you start off with the puppy formula, or just jump in with the adult? There are so many varieties - want to make sure I get the best for our little guy.

ProSelect looks good - a little more affordable than the others, and a little less scary looking  .
