The Kona Diaries: Month 6 Dear Diary: So much to tell. This time I start with a trip to a place Mark called a “farm.” We went to visit with another dog who might be a distant relative. She was a little growly at first, but then we played really hard together. Her call name’s Timber and they live qu...

Re: Puppy - When to reduce number of feedings per day

Kona's definitely a TOTW pup, at 7 months (two days ago) he's 70lbs and 24 inches at the shoulder. The vet's pleased because he's on the lean side (believe it or not) His daily [/i] diet is 4-7 cups of kibble, 1 full can of wet food, and 1/4 pound of ground meat (either chicken or hamburger), supple...

Recently had the opportunity to meet with someone who owns Native American Village Dogs (I think I got that right). At the risk of saying the obvious: 1. There is much to atone for in many places and in many histories. We humans are a morally flawed species. Not sure if this is true generally, but a lot of what you may be seeing is, in part, the high population of puppies and younger dogs in the pictures - the older dogs I think are more (still not completely, but more) uniform there - but with a relatively new breed that's growing each generation, what...
