Ookami, Makoyi and Sasha.
On saturday we went to visit Jen here on the forum and her doggies. Here are some photos of our two tamaskans Ookami and Makoyi and Jen's tam Sasha. Enjoy! :D http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/yy188/Ookamlin/Ooki%20Koyi%20Sash%2023-04-2011/DSCF8130.jpg http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/yy188/Ookam...

Funny, strange and quirky things your dogs do.
I think something similar to this existed on one of the old forums. It would be interesting and funny to read about what weird things your dogs are up to. Personally I think it would be cool if you would mention what breed your dog is as well. Ookami (Tamaskan) has a habit of disturbing my phone cal...

Cool. :D I only have a few of the pups and they are a bit dark, and I don't know which pup is which except Ooki, but maybe you would recognise him. ;) Wow, is he really 29 inches at the shoulder? Sounds huge to me, not petite at all? Yeah I think they both have influences from both Xena and Odin. Th...

Great photos, Tuskyn is very handsome!
I see so much Ookami in him. Especially in the third picture from the top, that's almost spooky!
He also reminds me alot of Ulric colour-wise.

Re: Short legs?
Yes, I see what you mean now.
For example Ooki's build is different from Koyi's and her legs look longer in proportion.
Though I wouldn't say that the alba dogs (Odin lines) have short legs, just depends what you compare it with. But I realise now that was your point all along.

I wouldn't say they have shorter legs, they are just smaller in general.Rahne wrote:She could still grow but there are tamaskans with shorter legs, mostly from Alba lines (Odin influence). I think you can split the breed in two types like with wolves you have the European and American wolves that also differ.

I use the clicker in my training of Makoyi alot. It works really well with her.
I don't click Ookami very often however, as he doesn't respond to it very well. With him I only use it when trick training.

If the puppy pulls on the lead, I would recommend a harness at least until they have learnt not to do so.
I have recently learnt that a normal collar can do much more damage than you think to the dogs neck and back etc.

Yep, you are absolutely right. Odin is a big influence, and many of the other dogs are quite petite by tamaskan standards as well. Ookami is a small male, but also very masculine and compact, with the traits you described. Makoyi and him are like night and day, but just as beautiful as each other th...

Ah no, I just checked, it's def not an elk hound. I remembered them to look different. But I doubt it's a tamaskan. At least don't think it's an alba dog as her dogs don't really look like that.
And Rahne, are you calling my dog a short arse?

Mine bark when someone is at the door, but not excessively.
Other than that, I wouldn't say they bark a lot, but they talk all the time!
When they want attention, when they want to play, when they play, when they want to go out,
and sometimes, just to say hello...

Vi kommer flytta till Sverige med våra två odjur, och kommer skaffa fler tamaskans i framtiden,
kanske t.o.m. bli uppfödare i Sverige.
Rasen verkar ju bli mer och mer pupulär i Norden, så ökningen lär bli rätt drastisk inom 5 år eller så.
