Re: Controversial Dog Sports

It looks like cruelty to me, and as you said that dog does not look like its smiling, but hot and exhausted.

Even with gradual training, that must be too much weight for them.

People are such a***holes

Re: Questions about raw feeding

Generally I go on how they look rather on how much they eat, although Mischa is pretty chubby since she's been spayed. If he's underweight I would just give him as much as he'll eat. He should have a waist when you view him from above and you should be able to feel his ribs, but not see them.

Re: Eating too fast

Thats like Sam... I'm trying to get him to eat faster... his food lasts him all day, he will just keep going back to it. So with another dog in the house (eventually), he will lose his food and get even skinnier  It might be an idea to not leave his food down all day. Just put it down and giv...

Re: Questions about raw feeding

If you're switching to raw you should just go ahead and do it, totally ditch the kibble. Are you giving him meat and bone? (it is the bone which firms up the poos). I absolutely recommend joining the Yahoo group, Raw Meaty Bones. The people on there live and breathe raw feeding and never tire of ans...

Whilst I know she is behind with her shots, there seems to be evidence that over-vaccination can cause epilepsy and I have just found this link regarding rabies shots.

Re: Alba Zuul (4 year old female) - update 6 nov

Well, I think she is actually ok with kids and other dogs. It was just cats that were a problem, but I suppose that might be dependent on circumstances, eg my two live with my cats, but if they see one outside they want to chase it. I dont think she has a great recall, but I suppose that could be wo...

That's what I was wondering Terri. Jennie has said before that she is not good with cats but the woman who is selling her says she is good with other dogs, children and cats. Her description needs to be factual or she will only end up in another home that wont keep her :( This whole thing makes me s...

It's quite a common recommendation by behaviourists that the humans in the house should eat before the dog(s) to establish themselves as higher ranking. Maybe Sam is acknowledging your place in the pack as above his?

I get two pieces of cooked cold meat, put the tablet in one and give it to Ayasca/Mischa letting them see I have another piece. As soon as they take the piece containing the tablet, I offer them the other piece and they swallow the first piece in one gulp so they can get the next. :)
