Re: Prong Collars

Horse bits are the same way, and I'm sure a lot of people don't think about them because you can't see them when the horse is wearing it. Used improperly and not fitted well, they can cause pain. Otherwise, they help you communicate with the horse.

Re: Prong Collars

We used one on Kumho for a while to help with the same problem of trying to dart off to chase/investigate various things. He learned the lesson pretty quickly and we hardly ever have to use it now. He wears it every so often just as a reminder, but verbal correction is typically enough to get him do...

I'm glad I don't live where you live for two reasons. One, I'd be broke from all the fines because it can take me a while to do things. I had weeds growing between the hedges for months before I got rid of them. And two, I'd probably be in jail because I would've strangled one of the board members b...

To me, it makes sense to require health testing if the dog is going to be breeding. Otherwise, a DNA test to prove lineage seems sufficient to say the dog is from TDR stock. However, I'll have to see what Katelyn and John say when I get the chance to ask them.

Re: Tamaskans and Prey Drive

So a fun story relating to prey drive. First I will say that Kumho definitely has one, at least so far as the chasing part goes. I don't know if he'd follow through if he actually caught anything. He could easily catch the frogs that come out at night, but he's never even attempted to pick one up ye...

I think there is a translation, but it's over a range of numbers, so you'd have to artificially pick one to convert the OFA or FCI score to. I remember seeing the conversion chart somewhere, but can't remember exactly where.

I'm honestly not quite sure how much it affects the nutritional value, but I don't think home cooking it impacts it in the same way a pet food manufacturer cooking it would. If you want to keep it raw, you may be able to mask the taste by soaking it in something like low sodium chicken stock. Or sti...

What type of liver was it? If it was beef, you could try chicken, etc. If he just doesn't like it raw, you could try boiling it, then baking it in the oven. Kumho is like a mix of Tag and Sam. Puddles? No problem. Ditch full of water? No problem. Mud pit? No problem. Put him in the bathtub to give him a bath? Worst thing in the world ever. He'll lay down in a kiddie pool full of water just fine, but the bathtub is his archenemy for some reason.

I have a cat like that. He could just be lounging and you'll go get the camera, but when you come back, he's gone. It's like he knew why you got up. Maybe she's just waiting for you to start bribing her with food.

I think it comes out to about $80 a month to feed a raw diet, which is mostly chicken. He gets between 2-3 pounds a day.
