Re: white tail tip
It depends how much of the tip is white (just a few hairs, or the whole end part?) - the more white hairs that are there now, the more that will stay white as the puppy grows older.

Re: white tail tip
I didn't think that a white tip was a DQ.

Re: white tail tip
Hawthorne - I would guess it depends on the amount of white ..
There is quite the difference between this

Re: white tail tip
The current breed standard does not define the white tail tip as a disqualifying fault. DQ means the dog is dismissed from the ring at a dog show. Is that what we want? It seems like such a silly thing to be DQ'ed for.

Re: white tail tip
It's not a disqualifying trait, but could be considered a fault (of varying degree).

Re: white tail tip
Personally, I would call it a minor fault. On a dog that is otherwise structurally sound and an outstanding specimen, I would consider for my own breeding program.
Freyja has produced two pups with white tail tips, one in each litter. Both are relatively small white tips. I actually find the white tip tails less of a concern than forehead blazes, but that's just my personal preference.
And they are both aesthetic issues.
I would say a DQ has to be something so severe that it would greatly impact how the dog could function in his job. Just my thoughts

Re: white tail tip
I don't find the white tips a big concern, as long as they are small..
I personally would like to exclude the blazes before the tail tips
neither I would DQ just like that unless it was so dominant it was ruining the overall type look of the dog (like a widows peak blaze or an all white tail)
