Dog Boots
Dog Boots
I haven't found a topic about this yet, just a sentence or two in a thread about general paw care, so I thought I was gonna make a seperate one.
Does anyone of you use boots for your dog(s)?
I went cycling with Monobi on Saturday for an hour and since we had to go through half the city before we came to the fields he's got 2 blisters on his front paw now, and all of the skin on the pawpawds looks pink and pretty run down (although not open or sore... yet).
I guess his pawpads are too delicate to be running on asphalt, so I considered getting dog boots for him.
I've been looking into some and Ruffwear ones (Grip Trex) seem to be nice?
I still have to figure out the size, Monobi has very slender paws but long toes.
Which boots are you using? What are your experiences? Anything you'd recommend?

Re: Dog Boots
I use booties on Wylie over the salt. Don't bother with Ruffwear, read the reviews, they all fall off. I personally like Muttluks. Expensive but hardy and wear really well. I also apply mushers secret before and after his runs.
Make sure you lets his paws heal fully before running on pavement again

Re: Dog Boots
I didn't know that about Ruffwear! I actually only read good things so far.
Is musher's secret a spray?
And yeah I'm going relatively short walks with Monobi now so his footsies can recover. Certainly no cycling for a while, especially not on asphalt.

Re: Dog Boots
It's a wax you apply a thin layer of on the pads and between the toes.
Re: Dog Boots
Skygge has a tendency to sometimes wear her soft feet down when very active (and specially if swimming or walking in water too) so I have just ordered shoes for her, I hope to be able to do some biking with her later this year, but I don't want her to ruin her feet for it so that's the thought.

I'll post some pictures with Monobi wearing them when I'll get one. The next thing on my Stupidly Spoiled Doge (TM) list is the Thundershirt though. The boots will have to wait.

I tried ordering the Thundershirt last year.. but I never got it which sucked big timeTatzel wrote:Google is your friendTiantai wrote:I'm interested to see how the boots look.

That blows :c did you tell the support? I think they'd try to send you a replacement.Nino wrote: I tried ordering the Thundershirt last year.. but I never got it which sucked big time
Also so far the Thundershirt honestly has done nothing for us... I don't feel like he is more calm outside on walks now, but I have only had it on him for 2 times now. Maybe he just needs time to adjust. I hope it will acually do SOMETHING, because I'm a bit at a loss with him right now. I can't even train him outside, he's so fearful he won't take treats.

Re: Dog Boots
We have ruff wear boots and yes they do fall off in the snow because they are too short. I bought them because of sidewalk salt, too. But now Ruffwear makes a boot that comes up over the dewclaw (much taller--like a high top version of the same boot)

I don't have the taller version but I bet these would stay on!
Also, with our dogs we had to order one size for the front paws and one size for the rear because the front is bigger than the rear. They do let you do that.

bark as if no one can hear you
catch the ball on the fly
lick like there's no end to kissing
sleep on a sofa nearby
jump like the sky is the limit
sit by the fire with friends
stay with the ones who love you
run like the road never ends

we got these: http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/dogs/dog_ ... ear/330070
the only problem having so far is them falling off sometimes, but it might be because we are not tightening them enough.. the dewclaw goes into the shoes
