Mark, all that panting form Kona is because you haven't brought him by in a while to play ;) .

Tracy, I only hope there's a female here in the States soon that's not too closely related. :|

congrats! I think the girls at white elk are a possibility? I don't know for sure, but I think Auri is the equivalent of gold as far as the tam community in the US is concerned :) there is also a possibility of Teyah, maybe? ... is my naivete showing yet?

Teyah is limited to two litters at most. We'll see what Moondance has planned. She needs to be bred to her best match to get the most out of the breeding.

Wouldn't Sequoia be a possibility, too? I don't know her pedigree and can't check it right now. Also, any of the Jeager x Sequoia pups would be good. And Leilah at Sienna Tamaskan, and Leia at Tamrakar would be a possibility, too.

Sequoia is Nanna x Jackal, full sibling to Leia at Tamrakar. I wouldn't recommend Leilah for Max, since Leilah her mother is Nevada (who is grandmother to Max).

If all you were doing was outcrossing, yes. This would be called a "tail female" line and is done rather frequently in dog breeding. I'm not saying it's okay--as I can't see health info on anything right now--but if all dogs are healthy this type of breeding is rather common. And assuming you would want "more Nevada."

BVA

Post by akaye531 » Mon Dec 23, 2013 7:30 pm

Mowgli's hips X-rays were sent nearly 2 months ago and we're still waiting on results. If there were a legitimate hold up on the results I wouldn't be frustrated, but the apparent lack of communication at the BVA is dumbfounding. When I originally asked for the paperwork to be sent to my vet it was allegedly sent, but never received. An honest mistake, fine. Resent and received in a few days. Frequently during my correspondence with them I've had to send the same message to multiple people because someone will respond one day, but not the next! I sent my credit card info to one person (said person confirmed it had been received), and a week later I was asked for the info from a different person. I was also told the results were sent to my vet almost 2 weeks ago. Interesting that this, too, has not been received. What the heck, BVA?!

Has anyone else had similar problems in working with the BVA?

I did I had to send to the BVA 3 times for the original paperwork... they sent me 15 cards so I wont have to contact them for many years hopefully. The whole process from the time Xrays were sent to BVA until the results came in to my Vet were exactly 30 days... the shipping part takes the longest time (I would contact your vet or better yet stop in to see if they got them, since they may be sitting in a pile)

That's crazy. I went through the AVA. I printed offthe form from the internet and filled it out before taking it to the vets. I was also given the disc of xrays to send them myself and results were given to me not the vets. Turn around was meant to be30 days but only took about 2 weeks.

You printed the green card off the internet? That could be part of the problem. They want an original green card (has to be mailed to you from London) last I knew (which was July, when we did Raven's hips). Also, they want the submission to come DIRECTLY from your vet, not from you--so perhaps the source of another hold up? Possible.

Yes, Raven's hips took 6 weeks. But admittedly, I mailed mine first class mail from USPS for $10, rather than paying for expedited shipping.

I didn't have a problem, I got my results earlier than I expected. I called AVA and asked how to do it they told me to download the form and have it filled out when I got to the vet.

No kidding? That makes so much more sense. Now if they would only allow electronic submissions for those who have digital xrays...
