Well good news on our end. Went to the vet a few days ago and they did not hear a murmur in Tika's heart. So it looks like her went away on it's own. We are very happy.

Told you it would After discussions with the DEFRA vet about this he told me that quite often puppies can get murmours
when they change home ie. fly to another destination etc...as this causes stress, new family etc etc. Most of the time people
probably wouldnt even know unless they took the puppy to the vets immed on arrival. By the time they get to the vet IF they
have had a murmour chances are it would already have disappeared so makes one wonder how many puppies arrive at their
homes with a murmour after a flight Anyhow great news that it is now gone.

I just have to say something about vets. We all know there are good and there are bad people in our lives. And the last person you would think who would manipulate you would be your vet. But it does happen and it happened to us. Our previous vet who did Freyja's preliminary hip scores was ready to have Freyja spayed ON THE SPOT because, in his opinion, her hips looked bad. Who is he to judge? Freyja is part of a rather small population of breeding dogs in our breed. It turned out that we had her prelims done too close to her heat cycle and the hormones affect joint laxity.
This vet had a mission to spay and neuter. Period. Please don't take a vets word as gospel--get a second opinion. And for those of you who want to breed, look around--high and low--for a breeder vet. A vet who breeds dogs themselves. They are worth their weight in gold. Even much higher prices. I know now that my dogs are properly looked after without someone else's agenda on the table.
I'm glad we waited and had Freyja's hips re-scored at the proper time with the BVA. This guy was wrong.
I hope that all of these pups are healthy and the murmur was just something that popped up as a result of stress. Our breed is young, we need as many dogs as we can hold on to--and these pups are too precious to let someone else's agenda get in the way.

That is awful. Do you know the thing on my mind when I moved house was what I was going to do about a new vet. Fortunately
there is a farm up the road and I was speaking to the farmer who pointed me in the right direction... boy was he right. My new
vet is absolutely fabulous and everyone I have spoken to since moving here has highly recommended him. I am soooo pleased. Also
he has a surgery which caters for everything which not all vets do over here in UK. Nothing is too much trouble for him and his prices are way below other local vets... i.e. puppy vaccination £17.50 next closest vet £29.50 quite a difference eh! I had had my last vet for over 20 years and he was a saint so you can imagine my worry when I moved house.

I belong to another chat forum on Yahoo groups called CanineReproPuppyCare. Interestingly enough, a discussion on heart murmurs in puppies was started yesterday and someone posted a very clear description of the reason why some pups have a murmur. Here's the copied message:

"Heart murmurs can occur in puppies or young dogs during their rapid growth phases. Puppies in the one to four month range require a high cardiac output during their period of rapid growth. This increased output is often enough to produce the velocity necessary to create turbulence, which results in a heart murmur. This is quite normal and is termed an innocent or functional murmur. Most puppies lose these murmurs in adulthood." (Taken from the below link).

When I worked at the vet clinic in Jersey, UK (where I did my internship) it was fairly common for pups that were brought in for their initial check-up to be found to have mild heart murmurs. The vet, Peter, would always reassure the new owners not to panic and to just come back again in a couple of weeks for another check-up because it is something that is relatively common in puppies and they do usually clear up within a couple of weeks.
