He's great! :D And I don't know if it's possible, but if you test him with a DNA test, is it possible to find out if he is a real Tamaskan? He has such a Tamaskanlike face, if you know what I mean. He is beautiful! Do you have any information about his past?

Sure looks like a Tam and particularly as in the pic you can see the tiny white stripe on the head. This is very typical of the bloodline that is out in Texas.. A dna will certainly tell you if in fact he is out of Hannibal, and if he is then Im certain that mum will be Tala... both in Texas ;)

He's gorgeous, very Tam like :)

Great pics. I am convinced that he is a true Tamaskan - the spitting image!
I just stumbled across an ad for a lost male Tamaskan (named Zeus) from Crowley, Texas - but I think that is too far away to be the same dog. It would seem to me that someone is breeding them without informing the TDR... I guess we should wait until the DNA test results are in to be 100% certain. :)

There was no chip or tattoo on him, they said he was just found as a stray. He is now chipped though with my brother's information.

I don't now in the usa, but in France identification is obligatory for each dog, even if you don't sell him.
Even if it's not the case in the USA, I guess that someone buying a dog of a breed (and a rare one) would identify him, so which is the probability that he could be the lost dog from texas ?
well the law says so in denmark too. but still not every dog has a microchip (new law all dogs have to be chipped when they are 8 weeks old - before tatoo would be accepted too and the limit was 4 months of age)

It would be worth contacting the owners of the missing Tamaskan as they must be worried sick by now. I know if it were me I would want someone to contact me. It would also put your mind at rest if he isnt the missing dog. It would also shed light on where he came from if in fact he is the missing dog.

Since you adopted him legally through the animal shelter, you wouldn't have to give him back even if he WAS the missing dog (which he probably isn't) as every shelter has a waiting period for the old owners to claim the dog before it is put up for adoption. I still think the distance is too great (though if he traveled some of the way by car it's not impossible) - BUT it could mean that someone is breeding Tamaskans in that part of Texas, so maybe he is related to the missing dog.

Your boy is gorgeous! I would call the people who are missing their tamaskan just to find out where, who, how they had a Tam......like Debby said there might be a relation. Could lead you to the parentage or some history on your pup?

There are lots of missing dogs in Sweden too... :( some of them have run away and some have been stolen when people tie their dogs outside stores etc.. some dogs have been stolen out of unlocked cars. It really has escalated last few years.
I never leave my dogs out of sight.. and if I have to.. I'll make sure the car is locked and alarmed.
I would worry my self sick if my dogs were lost.. and if something like this, after all, would happen.. one phonecall would make my world!
I can understand the new owner, but if it is the missing dog, maybe someone is waiting day and night for just this special phonecall..

They have not yet called back, but I've wondered if they really cared that much at all IF Nanaki was theirs since he wasn't microchipped, and in their add it said he ran out the door, if either of my dogs go running, I chase them and don't stop until I have them back. I did also after reading the add try calling him Zues since it said that was what their Tamaskan was called, but Nanaki gave no response to the name at all.
Right now we just can't wait to get the DNA test so we may find out further from there :) Nanaki still has a kennel cough but it is much better than when he first came to us. Tomorrow we are going to go for a walk around the lakes park, some more shopping for him, and a little fun at the dog park, so more pictures coming soon :)

True... I'd never have a dog (or a cat for that matter) that wasn't microchipped and I'd definitely chase after them too if ever they got loose like that! I'd be worried sick! It is possible that the missing Zeus is related to Nanaki though... make sure though, that you get THEM to send YOU a photo of Zeus first, don't send a pic of Nanaki - otherwise they might try to claim that Nanaki IS Zeus, even if he isn't... anyway, if they are the same dog, Nanaki is yours now and at least it'll bring some closure to the issue. If it were me, I'd be happy just knowing that my dog was found and in a safe home... it's the worry and the not knowing which is the worst.

Yeah, I'm also really curious about the DNA results. Hope he gets better soon and can't wait for the new pics! :D

There is always a chance that the microchip failed, my terrier is on her second as the first failed, luckily we found out. Not phoning you back is a good sign, though just to cheer you up, they could always be away. I think a better sign that he is not the lost dog is not responding to the name, I would expect some response if he had heard the name before, especially as you said he was quick to respond to Nanaki.

I hope they do phone you and it is not their dog, then you will be able to relax and enjoy him. Sounds like he is going to have a wonderful time.

It is a vacation time. Maybe Nanaki was also put out far from home. Unfortunately, in Germany it is usual that the dogs are put out somewhere in the resting place.
Now he has found anyway a great new home. The pictures speak for themselves. Really! Congratulation! :D :D :D
