Summer's second litter ...

Post by muensterland » Fri Dec 03, 2010 2:09 pm

Hi everybody

Full of happiness and tightness we are waiting for Summer's puppies next week. Here are some pictures of her while she is waiting also. We think she wants to born the pups as quick as she can cause she is very thick now.

Re: Summer's second litter ...

Post by muensterland » Thu Dec 09, 2010 2:33 pm

Summer has born two puppies yesterday night. After that it didn't go further. Through several ultrasound studies we have known that there are more puppies so we went for an x-ray to the vet. The X-ray examination didn't gave any thoughts of problems and we went home after an injection to hurry up the birth a little bit. One hour after the injection there hasn't been another new puppy, so we go back to the vet for a Cesarean. During the operation there was a picture of horror. The uterus was twisted in itself, half torn and dead. Summer had already 2 liters of blood in the abdomen and the uterus had to be removed completely. The puppies in the uterus were dead. Summer has come through the operation well and we hope that she will be fully alright in a couple of days. She is now at home and taking very good care of her two little babys. The vet will have a look forSummer now each day at our home and the most important thing for us is that Summer is right. It is just sad that there are nmore pups from Summer in the future.

I am so sorry to hear this bittersweet news... I am really glad that Summer is OK and 2 babies are alive, but very sad to hear about the other puppies and that she can't have any more pups after this... these 2 surviving puppies are really special.

What a sad news! It must be very hard for you to know that she can't have any more puppies. But it's a miracle that she is still alive, though she has lost such an amount of blood. The remaining pups must be very special. Are they boys or girls? And do you have plans to keep one? They are very beautiful and mother and pups look very healthy after all they have been through. I hope you'll keep us updated whith their progress!

Hi all

Summer is doing well now. The Pups are doing very well and all have no problems.

Image
The bigger one is the female (Laika)
Her new home will be at Christin ("The North" here in the Forum)

Image
The male is still a little bit smaller (Nikahn)
His new home will be in austria at our friends.

The weight of the pups at the birth has been 670gr. and 750gr.. Now the are weighing 1020gr. and 1140gr..
The are really very heavy but healthy.

Thanks to everybody for the good wishes!!!

So sorry to hear about Summers complications, I am glad that she is ok and that the 2 pups are doing fine, they are gorgeous. It is such a shame that Summer can never again have more pups, but with the few that she did give she has done you and the breed proud.
