Jazzy

Post by Jamille » Tue Jul 31, 2012 8:54 pm

Jazzy is my 9 month old papillon pup. Everybody thats met her absolutely loves her, and I dont think theres a person shes met that she doesnt like! She's very social, and very smart.

Jazzy loves all dogs. With small dogs, they take turns chasing each other. With medium sized dogs, she tries to reach up to kiss their face. With big dogs...well, she sits down beside them and lets them kiss her. She loves kids, and was super well behaved with a baby. She sat still while the baby poked her, and even tried to sneak in a kiss.

A vid from when she was still very young. She's the one with the two spots on her near the base of her tail and right hind leg, and the one who wouldnt leave her mother or sisters side. :)

I think the best part about owning any dog is seeing the smiles when they see your dog. Recently I met two men at a park asking about Jazzy. They came to say hi, and said she looked exactly like their papillon who passed last year. Wyatt, a 19 month old papillon was put down because of kidney failure, due to poor breeding. They had payed $4000 for him, while we only payed $500. We told them about where we got her, and they said we got her from a good breeder. Jazzy played with their American Eskimos for a bit, which were both rescues. One especially seemed to take a liking to her, and they were surprised because he was a puppy mill dog, and they held him back as much as possible. When it was time to leave, they thanked us for bringing back good memories :D

There’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.
The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.

The wolf that wins? The one you feed!

She's about 10 inches at the shoulder, but she makes up for her size in personality :)

Its been a year since I last updated in Jazzy, so I figured I'd post some pics of her now :) She's turning 2 in November; my baby is all grown up :') Her fur has grown out pretty long, but people still ask if she's a chihuahua  Anyways, here are the pictures, they're from the past summer. Enjoy...

Don't worry, others spam this forum with photos too. I have done it so many times on my own topics of my furry and aquatic friends ;)

Such sweet dogs <3 We have a regular customer that comes in with her Service Dog that is a Papillon, Zoey. She is so sweet and will fall asleep in your arms (I get to hold her as I ring up the customer's items).

You should post more photos ;) I don't see it as spamming at all!

Just an update on Jazzy:

About two weeks ago, she fractured 4 of her toes on her left hind leg. She was given a splint, and it all seemed like it would be okay. Recently she started chewing on the cast, which was to be expected. We stopped her, and rebandaged her foot. Soon it got pretty bad; overnight she chewed right through the cast and she ended up making herself bleed. She was brought in yesterday, and they told us her foot lost circulation (we think they might have bandaged her leg too tightly) but still seemed viable. Today they told us it wasn't viable, and that now her foot is infected as well. They'll be treating her until Monday, and if she has improved, everything will be fine. If not, she'll have to get her leg amputated.

Please keep Jazzy in your thoughts and prayers. I understand that an amputation could be her best chance, but I really hope she has a healthy recovery.

Yikes, she should have definitely had a cone on, it probably would have been preventable. Hopefully her foot is salvageable :/

Oh, I know :( We were never provided with a cone, and there was no pet stores in our area that supplied the cones. The vet just told us that we need to keep her in her crate, and to keep her from chewing the cast. We were never told what to do if she did start chewing... (apparently, when the dog chews its foot, something is already wrong; they also told us she lost circulation about 5 days before we brought her in, the same day she started chewing. Hmmm...). She is our first dog, so we didnt have much past wisdom to go off of.

Anyway, Jazzy went into surgery today. The terrible part is that they cut up to her hip, when they told us they would only cut up to her (mid?) femur. They just went ahead and did it, without notifying us at all. They also told us we would be able to have her home today, but now they told us they'd like to keep her until tomorrow (which is understandable). But it seems to me that she'll have to find a new vet after this ordeal.

So sorry you have to go through with that with the vets :( Hopefully you will be able to find better vets to help take care of Jazzy in the future.

WOW they should have forced a cone into your hands. I've literally told people that they can't take they dog unless they buy the cone because it WILL cause problems. I'm sorry but that pisses me off.

As for the incision, the femur is the thigh bone, so an extra inch of incision on a pup like Jazzy can take you right to the next joint. I'm sure they didn't mean to do it unless they had to. Often, vets won't call just to cut a bit higher. Only for things like emergencies or things they didn't notice before that they feel you must know right then and there.

I hope she feels better, I groomed a papillon today and thought about Jazzy the whole time :)

They did explain to us why they did it. She would have lost the muscle function in the leg because of the amputation, and it would've just caused more injury for her in the future. It's okay, I guess, but I feel sort of cheated. It wouldve been nice to know they were going to do it, thats all :)
