That's awesome! I especially love watching pups start bitework. The jute tugs are practically bigger than they are!

My girls are just getting started with obedience and protection, but I'm still not sure how far we're going to get. Neither are shy, and both are super drivey...just not sure on their nerve (and Naima's attention span) yet.

Good luck and keep us updated! :)

That's really cool! Yarrow is also not drivey enough for IPO, and doesn't have the focus needed. He is a pretty independent dude. Onyx on the other hand will definitely be a good candidate I think! I am taking the Introduction to IPO fundamentals (obedience and protection) through the Fenzi Dog Sports Academy. Great to have access to online classes because I live so far in the middle of nowhere, there are no clubs anywhere near.

I'd love to see some pics or video of your girls!

There’s a battle between two wolves inside us all.
One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego.
The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.

The wolf that wins? The one you feed!

I really see the German Shepherd look sometimes in him - at times Skygge reminds me of him <3

I think the German Shepherd part is the MOST visible characteristic in the black coat ANCD as well. There are many black GSD and GSD-mixes that look like the ANCD from certain angles. Here's an example of one own by a couple who pass by my campus every week.

According to the woman who walks him, this dog was labelled at the rescue shelter to be a mix between a GSD-Lab and some other northern spitz. Sadly my phone ran out of battery before I could get a proper headshot as the dog kept on moving

I think Yarrow looks more GSD like in his summer coat, it makes his ears look quite a bit bigger when he doesn't have all his fluff.

I don't think so lucas.
Yes, they're both black, both have ears up and pointy nose.
That not make two dogs look alike.

I agree with Lynwae, I think there is a vast difference in the dogs' build; when looking at Yarrow I immediately think "wolf in black", whereass a black shepherd looks... just like that, a black shepherd.

I would never ever confuse Yarrow with a Black GSD... Yarrow looks much lighter in body with longer feet, without the sturdyness of a GDS. It is hard to describe it in english - he just looks more agile and his head shape still makes me thinks of an black wolf.

I said from a certain angle. I did not mean they are 100% identical plus that I did acknowledge that the dog I posted is a crossbreed and not a pure GSD.

Not quite, but it's getting close. Some of these photos are from a few weeks/month ago when he had less coat. The 4th one down (black and white on the stump) is one of the most recent, but I'd say his undercoat isn't quite finished filling in.
